I've watched a ton of surface imperfection tutorials, and this is by far the clearest and easiest to understand. Thanks for always creating top tier tutorials Remington! Always excited for a new video from you, and I wouldn't have been able to get skills up to snuff in blender without you. Can't express enough appreciation

I've read a ton of comments saying that the video they see is by far the clearest and easiest to understand. And this is by far the best written and expressed one I've read. Thanks for always writing top tier comments Edward Vega. Always excited for a new comment from you and I wouldn't have been able to read good comments on youtube without you. Man I've been using Blender for Over 5 years but You never stop learning do you? I've always made my own shaders and textures but not once have I ever heard of or Touched "Color Attributes." The Dirty Vertex color function is something I'll totally be using at work now! Thank you!

Thank you for making this video. It was quite simple to understand. I was wondering if there was an add-on that could extract all the data from a 2D image, comprehend the detail, and generate a shader editor tree for you. That would be a fantastic and useful plugin for someone like myself who doesn't understand the nodes very well but wants a nice outcome.

I've been bouncing around across country and lost quite a bit of progress due to not having my PC with me (along with other preoccupations) I think the best way forward is to start at the beginning and refresh my fundamentals. My go to is Nathan Duck for quick actionable tutorials but for an all rounder I'd put my money on you. I'm gonna give your skillshare work a go, wish me luck. I'll be sure to share anything I make on Instagram with you

Is just painting texture and color still usable these days… or is building those elaborate arrays better? Is there any reason to still hand paint objects like I remember doing? (I got pretty good at that)
@SouthernShotty2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the project and the artist. Most studios are using techniques like this to save time on assets. A mixture of techniques is probably best.

@DavidLGood2 жыл бұрын
Well, guys... I'm at a loss. I can download the sample file and get results just like in the video, but as soon as I bust out a new scene with a default cube (booleaned, subdivided to death, with cracks and lines added for depth, etc.) or another model in a different .blend file and try this same thing -- I get nothing. I must be missing something obvious.
@heyzell_2 жыл бұрын
For some reason, my "dirty" vertex group seems to fill everything/is visible on all surfaces, even after changing the angle to 90º. Could someone chime in here in the comments? EDIT: Maybe I need to apply scale/transformations?

Hey, love the video! Just a small suggestion, I'd drop the intro song by around 6-10 dB. It is a bit loud when compared to the rest of the audio.
