Watched your video and tested my dual 3090s set up against your numbers, at least for the files I had access to. Found in most cases that I was only a half a second to a full second slower in most rendered scenes, and had roughly the same viewport experience (cycle viewport took a couple of seconds longer to clean up fully, but transversal was equal). The bird rig also under cycles ran about 22- 24fps in the cycles viewport w/the background visible. Given the (un)availability of the new cards and price, the potential of having to upgrade an entire system including your case...maybe running a dual setup might be a better option than jumping on the newer cards. Card prices are low on the 3000 series, drivers are battle-tested, ample stock to be had, and heat can be controlled by undervolting.

well, maybe they should market it as a "Quadro" or Titan card, instead of 4090. Then make a "normal" 4090 or 4080ti" for -500 less? Didn't they do the same thing with the LHR cards on the 3000 Series? People want to have 4090 gaming performance, but don't ususally need that power for Blender and Co. Why not serve every purpose?

I used to work 32-CoreThreadripper Workstations with 2080TI and then rtx 3090. Threadripper or even the new 7950X cpu and a 4090 is a match made in heaven especially if you work in tv or film. The real time rendering on Threadripper and EPYC on the cpu side alone is amazing and then the added benefits the 4090 brings is another level.

Hi, with Blender, for interior design render, is better with a 2000eu CPU or with 4090GPU (finale render and realtime viewport)? And in Cinema4d with Corona (easier maybe)? Thanks a lot!
@MIchaelSybi Жыл бұрын
@@ricbattaglia6976 Corona is CPU only, though it supports Nvidia denoising, which is also nice. You should pick the renderer first. I'd pick a videocard, if you opt out from CPU and GPU, for a general usage, as Threadripper platform is quite expensive to build (motherboard+cooling+memory+CPU may be up to 3-4k I guess altogether). Additional benefit of GPU you can run games and many monitors, and RTX cores will get handy in many applications. But if you specialize in inderior rendering, it's likely you'll use Corona, so you need a good CPU.

@joshhockey9 Жыл бұрын
No, but also yes. You can hook two together to share vram if you really need 48? GB using nvlink. You can render using all three cards if your computer can handle the heat and power draw, or you could render different frames with all three of them at the same time if you use placeholders so they don't just render over top of each other. IIRC 3090 and 3090ti are the only cards in that series to get nvlink.

@joshhockey9 Жыл бұрын
Lots of possible reasons. Your CPU, RAM, and hard drive might be a bit slower, making it take longer to build a scene before the actual rendering starts. Your GPU might be clocked a little lower as some come overclocked from the factory, or just get lucky and boost a little higher. You might not be using enough cooling, so your card heats up faster and throttles earlier than his. A windows update can make it work better or worse, background apps can influence it, etc.
@workflowinmind2 жыл бұрын
Thanks South, I really think the "tools don't matter" tell is no longer true in our days.... You simply can't do the same kind of projects on a 2k$ vs 12k$ computer.
