In my case (Blender 4.1) in Ocean modifier, it is possible to get Render resolution 64, if Viewport is the same number; 64. If 32 then can't get more than that in Render. Also noticed that if bake-folder is not located to drive C:, baking takes same time, but there is only few .exr and size of each is 0 kb, when changing folder to C:, it worked like it should. It's also worth noting that if you would like the ocean to animate you will need to animate the "time" value in the ocean modifier.

It is animated and I did exactly that

I animated it (24fps) in frame 0 Time is "1.00" and in frame 500 Time is "10.00". Checked disp*.exr and it differs. But when rendering animation, there is no animation. I don't understand why. Auto refresh is activated in Cirle. Any clue?

My mistake! Rendered frames was limited to 253-500. Animation stopped in frame 250! 🤦‍♀

next time can you explain ad ons a little more? im new to blender and had to spend 30 minutes trying to figure out what that lighting ad on you used was

Hahaha yeah sure sorry this videos was dedicated to make the ocean stuff and not lighting because otherwise the videos would be too long and out of topic. But I can do a tutorial on light and the hdri addon 👌🏼

Hi ! just curious... why add a circle at approx 4:10 (that gives you asubdivision problem at the center) rather than another plane that would not ?

I never tried it out, I just felt like it looks more realistic in the distance with a circle but if it works with a plane too why not 👌🏼

I followed this tutorial and rewatched it a few times but for some reason mine is completely broken. Idk if it's because I'm on 4.1 and this is a 4.0 tutorial or something else but when I made it, it was juts completely black and the waves would not show up. Edit, I completely redid the project and followed the tutorial again, and its something to do with this part at 5:45. When I set my render to Cycles so I can used the experimental tab, the entire circle goes pitch black. Idk if there is a way to fix this or not.

Oh weird I will see what the problem could be. I never had this problem before. Do you have lights or an HDRI in the scene already?

where's the step for animating the ocean , i can't get my ocean to wave

you have probably figured it out by now. but i suppose it is as simple as either keyframing or adding a driver to the time in the ocean modifier, before you bake it out. i recommend adding a driver with the expression: "frame/24", depending on your framerate. when you then drag the exr sequence back into the shader editor, the maps are already animated. i think the exr sequence is meaningless without any animation on the ocean before you bake it out. but i am not a pro. hope that helps unless you have already found your own way

@rayviiin Hey, I'm having the same problem. I did "#frame/24" before baking the ocean, but for some reason in the rendered view when I hit play, the height of the ocean doesn't change at all. It doesn't seem to be animating, but the foam is animating, just not the waves.

@@Walres hi! after some research, i found out that blender does not currently support baking when dealing with drivers. meaning you’ll have to use key frames for the animation

You can select a folder with all your hdris and than click through them :)

Same old stuff, 'change bump only to displace...I don't have either, I have vector displacement only, what version of Blender are you using here, 4.1 doesn't have bump anything. I'm starting to think I have a different version of blender than anyone else on planet earth
