I have not had that experience with the classic lid. I actually prefer the classic lid just because I constantly forget to screw on the newer version on correctly.

No its durable AF. I used classic for over 5 years it will brand new kept it in sun in cold in dishwasher and everywhere else didnt even ding. It died when i filled it up 100% and forgot in freezer, then the ice expanded and it cracked. But im getting another one now never seen such a nice quality plastic either the water can stay fresh in it for rly long and doesnt change the taste like most bottles do.
