I used warm olive oil and it helped my daughter’s cradle cap

Seriously I think you will see a big benefit to gently applying baby oil and letting it sit for a couple hours before combing it out. It will come away so much easier and you will get more at one go

Def going to try that with my next baby if they have cradle cap. My baby’s cradle cap is gone thank gosh.

Avoid baby oil especially if your baby has sensitive skin my dr is against using it and says it only makes things way worse! But every Dr and baby are different seek medical advice before using it to be safe 🫶🏼 what I found works for my sensitive skin baby is the Frida kit oh crap cradle cap, comes with a softener shampoo and a spray hydrator! I also bought the comb set seperate from Frida brand also and seen huge results in the first bath! My baby is on his second bath and it is almost completely gone!

That was my issue too ! I felt like the flakes were just multiplying in front of me! I realized he had layers of them but it’s didn’t look … Awful … it was so hard to stop ! It took me about 3 or 4 evenings but as you said I did stop for his comfort but I could have scraped up those flakes all night lol

Honestly the baby doesn't feel anything with cradle cap! It does not itch, or hurt ect. They feel nothing with it there! While removing it safely is okay to do, it also is okay to let it slowly go on its own because the child feels no kind of discomfort at all.
@jimclarke88Ай бұрын
@@joannax1610 I disagree. It’s a yeast based condition and if left alone to get worse, not only will it itch, but cause hair loss and a greasy, crusty and hideous scalp. Who wants that for their beautiful baby when it’s so easy to keep under control or eliminate entirely.
@jimclarke88Ай бұрын
Ok people here is the deal. I’m a mom of 4 and grandma of 11. I have seen all types of cradle cap, ranging from a few flakes to a thick, greasy hideous helmet that torments a baby and causes him/her massive or total hair loss. Cradle cap is a form of infantile Seborrheic Dermatitis. It’s usually a yeast-based condition. Does it itch? If it’s just a few flakes, probably not, but anything more than that and it most likely does. If it’s super heavy you can bet it does. Vaginal yeast infections, jock itch and athlete’s foot are all yeast infections. That’s why you use anti-yeast products to treat them. Imagine how your infant feels with that nasty, heavy helmet of greasy crusts covering his/her little head. How would YOU feel? Not only that, it’s SO disfiguring. In a time where others should be oohing and ahhing over your beautiful child, if baby looks like an alien reptile people will recoil from him/her like there is a contagious disease invading the child. What proud mom wants that? So, how to get rid of it? If it’s only a few flakes, some coconut or olive oil overnight with a little cap will soften the scales. Then you can life them off the scalp with firm, circular motions of a firm bristled baby brush. A soft brush or fat rubber comb are useless. You wind up rubbing/combing much longer than if you use the correct tools to begin with. For more severe cases, get some Ketconozole shampoo from Amazon. You can also use head and shoulders. For less severe cases I hear Happy Cappy is very effective. Wash your child’s hair with a firm baby brush and whatever shampoo is needed based on severity. Then, using a FLAT, sharp double sided infant comb (not a fat rubber comb or soft brush) gently comb out any flakes. Next, rub a generous amount of oil or coconut oil on your child’s head. Put a little cap on him and tuck him into bed. The next morning, use the same shampoo you used the night before to wash the scalp and hair, using a firm baby brush in circular motions on the scalp to loosen more crusts. Rinse and pat dry. Now, take your sharp, flat baby comb and slide it gently under the crusts that remain on the scalp. If you need to scrape a bit, you can carefully do this. Do not dig in one spot. Also, it is NORMAL for your baby’s head to become pink or red as their scalp is very vascular. Move over the scalp carefully, removing as much as you can. If more Cradle Crap remains, the next night place more olive or coconut oil and the little hat on the baby and the next morning, shampoo his head with regular baby shampoo. Again, gently lift out flakes. Repeat this every night until you have the results you want. NOTE: DO NOT use the Ketconozole or Head and Shoulders more than once a week. As always, ask your doctor if you have any questions and r concerns. This advice is sane and tested on my own children, grandchildren and mothers I have helped with great results, but it does not take the place of your doctors advice. Peace, AvieMare

I was told it could be stupid to remove cradle cap doing so can result in bald patches when the child gets older I have seen videos of these results
The cradle cap itself can prevent hair growth though
@jimclarke88Ай бұрын
It is actually ridiculous to leave cradle cap on the scalp. As a mother of four and grandmother of 11, I have seen parents allow that crud to build up on the scalp of their infants until all you see is a thick, hideous, greasy helmet that has pulled out all the hair and disfigured the natural beauty of the baby. Any doctor who tells parents to ignore it is not doing their job. It’s so easy to remove, but NOT removing it can result in a greasy, itchy, hideous, torment for a poor little baby.
