In Lightwave 3D i used to project a shape on a surface then work the quads

I'm a week into learning boxcutter and mostly getting the hang of it. I find myself naturally wanting to start my cuts in a side or top orthogonal view. Is there a way to make that more deliberate? You can't see how dep or anything. The alternative is to make and cut everything in perspective. Is that just he way it has to be? Or, I have to draw the shape, then rotate the view to continue. Should I just get used to making everything at an angle?

Works best in perspective. Can always shift click when finishing, then go into edit mode with the cutter to tweak it.

@@pzthree Ok so the extra step is necessary just because you can't realistically see what you're doing. Fair enough, thanks!

It seems like you have knife measurements by default. I cant get it to work like that, eveytime I press "k" (or "2" with machine tools) I need to press s. The only way knife tool remembers it, is when I am using it through toolbar which is inconvenient..
