Just thought I'd throw it in there. BTW perfect tutorial, simple & to the point. Much better than your YT competitors.

Thanks, I'll look into that. I've just seen a great tutorial for stitching inset text into a mesh (a similar challenge). I've only been using Blender for a couple of months. It's an information overload, but in a good way. This program kicks ass.

Never knew about that option! Great! Very useful!

Thanks for the vid - quick and easy method. Singular form of vertices is vertex btw :P

Might it be possible to create a cylinder as a separate object, then merge the two & delete inner vertices (or something like that)? I'm just thinking, how would you go about it if your mesh is more complex?

nice. Like the pacing a lot, some of these go too slowly.

how to cut oval or an elliptical circle??

That's exactly what the boolean modifier is for. From two meshes you can get a union, intersection, etc...

Does that work out when you are making a hole to a specific diameter?

adanmh design I started dwelling into making a cool robot like thingy.. And i was tryiing diffrent techniques to cut a round whole into a sphere or a subdivided cube into a sphere. So what i found best so far.. after few days of diffrent effects looking and what might happen after aplying material and shading .. Best way is the shown in the video, but it can be done diffrently. Just choose lets say the faces ... you wan't to turn into a sphere like whole.. First extrude the area inside a bit so its like a cubic type hole, then just do mesh>transform>to sphere.. looks perfect after doing smooth + extra subdivide to clean the area, thats my tests so far :), and if you wanna make that spherical thing to glow, it works wonderfully clean with an emission shader ! P.S: Remember supporting edges around the circle shape, so that it can be nicely defined :)
