Hello, I loved your tutorial, and there is something that differentiates you from the other KZbinrs, the others use a lot of keyboard shortcuts and confuse the novice, but you select from tools and that is perfect because that way we can guide ourselves better, keep it up, good luck 👍👌

Useful tutorial! Though I must admit, I had to take some liberties. I'm trying to make a character with six fingers (counting the thumb) on each hand.

At the end of the tutorial can't you just join the hand and the body mesh together and remesh them together in sculpt mode? Great tutorial series btw.

Really appreciate your tutorials. They are so clear. Thank you for that. One question though. You try to avoid triangles at all times, because you want quads, right? But what about the triangles you created when decreasing the vertices on the hand to be able to merge the hand with the arm. Are those triangles not an issue? I am just trying to understand why to stick to quads and no triangles en why sometimes triangles are okay. Maybe you already have a tutorial about this? Would be helpful for me. Thanks a lot!

so this is a really good topic and I do really wanna make a video about that it... many people don't understand what is the different between triangles, n gons and quad mesh... but to answer your question quickly big Studios still using triangles models with really high quality details characters.. at the end of the day what do you really care about is your final render , who does care about triangles or quads if your final render looks fantastic.. we do stick a lot with quad mesh because in many circumstances it's easier for animation and to add a subdivision surface modifier on it without destroying the smoothness

@@BlenderArt thanks for your answer. Is it true though, that triangles can be less stable in animation? But then I wonder why so many big studio’s use triangles. Thanks again for your clear tutorials!

Not sure if you're still wondering about this. Best practice, especially as a beginner, is to stay as quad as possible. It really is about your understanding of topology though (which is more advanced than this video). If you want to keep quads for this, you could even delete the edge connecting the triangles and have a quad known as a diamond, which is used to redirect edge flow, but also very common to use in hands just to kill the poly count. Another thing to add, if you intend to use this for a game engine, they typically convert models to all triangles anyway, so your worry of triangles doesn't matter as much in that case. Just be as conservative as possible if you need to use tris while modeling.
