The Node Minimap is also a great addon and well worth the $20. A minimap should really be a standard feature, not just in Blender but any node editor.

Thank you so much Erin! Is there a way to mute a connection? Let's say I have many things connected to a join geometry node. Sometimes hard to unplug the right one, and if it's long distance, I don't have a hard time to plug it again. So muting a connection would be great, if it already exists.

Hey, just in case you need another idea for a video: I would be very interested in Scripting and how the data structure of Blender looks in general. I've been skirting the subject since I started doing Blender, but I ever so often get annoyed by the limitations of the provided tools, especially with the node systems (even though they're great and more creative minds could find a solution with the tools provided). I can code a little and I feel it couldn't be that hard with the well defined Data the node systems are using and I encountered many voices talking about how easy implementing code with Blender is. There's a lot of great documentation out there and I tried looking into it for a bit, but it seems there is not a lot of stuff that is very specific. I'll keep trying to make sense of what's there, but if you know a little about that subject, I'd be delighted about a video on that subject. The integrated scripting node doesn't have GPU support.
@Erindale3 жыл бұрын
I unfortunately know nothing about scripting but I can definitely do a video on data structure. That would probably help a lot of people as it's very central to all Blender use!

Hi, for some reasons "Alt+Shift+Left Click" shortcut doesn't work for me. Is it a bug or the shortcut has changed now in the latest version of blender?

Make sure you have the node wrangler on. It's definitely still the same shortcut unless you've changed it or an add-on has overwritten it

Hi. I finally found the source of the problem. I activated the "Emulate 3 button Mouse" because I am a laptop user and used touchpad to navigate. Hey, Could you tell me how big were the geometry node changes from 2.93 to 3.0-3.1? Im mainly asking this, becouse I have just bought your 2.93 geo course, Im curious how many stuff has changed since.
@Erindale3 жыл бұрын
A bunch of node names are different like "Point Distribute" is now "Distribute on Faces" and the way we had to write attribute names on every 👏 single 👏 node 👏 has now been replaced with actually connecting nodes with noodles like we do in shaders. It's much better. If you're looking for a node that was eg "Attribute Map Range" now you're just looking for "Map Range". Just cut the Attribute part off and you should find more or less what you're after. The final video in the course is me going through the whole scene with Blender 3.0 (just before it was released) so you can see there how the process compares!

Is there a way to get my object's position relative to the camera's view or window in shading?
@Erindale3 жыл бұрын
Yeah you can generate window coordinates. The way I do it in my Toolkit add-on is by positioning radial gradients at the camera position and using map range nodes to get a 0..1 range corrected for the aspect ratio
@andrewchew91993 жыл бұрын
Well I'll try to understand that the best I can, I ain't that well with math and stuff just yet
@Erindale3 жыл бұрын
Use the radial gradient node and take the position input node subtract the location of the camera as the vector. You want to use a Vector rotate from the camera rotation too to align it. That should get you started
