BLENDER- partical hair to 3D printable hair

Hey Lindsay, you seem to quite literally be the only person that covers this essential information. Goes to show even if your new to Blender and Tutorials, its about the idea's behind them that matter the most. As a fellow creator, thanks for filling in a problem that no one else could. Also to add. I have a fairly extensive knowledge about every tool you used in this video, and even with that knowledge, never once did I think to use them in the way you did (particularly the re-mesh modifier). Like one of the other comments said, even though you say your a noob, don't sell yourself short. +1 sub.

seriously I just clicked on this cause im learning how to sculpt and model in blender and hair was something i wanted to know how to 3d print with particle systems rather than using curves since it takes a while...this got an instant subscribe...even if youre a noob as you claim to be, this was very helpful. be proud of yourself :)

Hi! If you download the 2.6 version it will have it ◡̈ I don’t know why they didn’t keep it in the new updates! Weird! But hopefully that helps

@@shaunferris6063it is the version for the hair tool. You can use any version for blender and I always update when available. But for the hair took you need the 2.6 version for this to work as shown

i just spent 60$ on the hair tool.... and it wont update profile while standing on teh new hair mesh. says old curves are not suppsoed, use new hair curves instead

i bought hair tool to make the same 3d printable version as yours, but it turned out that current hair tool is totally different. How it come? Even some tools are not available. What was your version?

Hi! Yes unfortunately you do have to go into preferences and download the 2.6 version. Not sure why they changed things so drastically! But that is the version I keep and works best for my needs

I guess you can find it under the object tooltip of viewport. The you would find converting options.

Huhu, quick question here. Do you need the Hair Tool for this workflow? Or can you also just work around it with the stuff that comes with basic blender?

I haven’t found a way to do it without the hair tool, but if you ever figure out a way please feel free to let me know! 🥰

By this time you may have already found another way. Still if anyone else needs it... I have found a way to do it without hair tool. convert the hair particles to mesh -> then the mesh to curve -> then set the bevel and taper -> convert it into mesh again -> remesh it to reduce polycount. (warning: your machine will become painfully slow until you remesh it. be patient).
