how do you move the vertices to the right left and backwards
@3d.errorist Жыл бұрын
Select vertex, press G twice, and after try moving them. I assume you mean this movement 🤔

Automerge not even working for me in blender 3.5
@3d.errorist Жыл бұрын
I didn't update my blender yet, I'm still working with 3.5 and auto merge works fine with no issues. You are more than welcome to join my Discord and drop your file there. I can have a look and tell you what is the issue. It should be something very small or even maybe the way how you are trying to do this is not quite correct🤔

@@3d.errorist thank you :) although I figured it out, I just needed to join the seperate objects together with ctrl+j then I was able to merge the vertices together 😊

Sry but I have no idea what you are actually doing
@3d.errorist9 ай бұрын
It's all right, no need to be sorry. Maybe I should grab the whole top instead of vertices and loop to demonstrate everything better. I enabled auto-merge, and then I merged the vertices of two separate parts of the object. I merged them by positioning them one on top of another. At one point you see me moving one part of the mesh down until it is in line with the vertices of the other part of the mesh. I hope it helps. If not let me know and I will try to explain better :)

@@3d.errorist I mean, I kinda get what the programm is doing, but I have trouble understanding what you are doing to get the program to do that. It's all sleight of hand. I realize there is an input log on the screen, but it's too fast for me.

@@patrickkeller2193 oh, watching then with hitting the pause should help, but okay, let's do it by text. 1. Make sure you are inside the front view with the Numpad 1. 2. Select everything with A. 3. Duplicate with the shift + d, after use right mouse click to keep the duplicated object at the original position. 4. Rotate the duplicated part: r, y, 180 (enter to confirm). 5. Use g, z to move up the duplicated part. (left mouse click to confirm) And after that is done enable the auto-merge and lower the duplicated part (g, z) until the last vertices of each part are sort of "touching". You can see me holding the shift key after pressing g, z - and it's because it slows the movement and gives you more precision. 🤓

@@3d.errorist yeah, it's not just the speed. I haven't memorized all of the commands yet, so it's mostly a meaningless string of letters, which is hard to keep track of. Having the context makes it much easier. Also phrases like this: "And after that is done enable the auto-merge" is what's starting to infuriate me about most Blender tutorials. "just do X" without explaining how to do X, or "now click on xyz" without showing or explaining where it is. Dude figuring that out is exactly what I came to your tutorial for. If I knew already I wouldn't be here. In this case I went back to your video and watched it frame by frame to see which key it was that enabled the auto-merge. Took me ages to figure out that you didn't forget to tell me or that I didn't miss it 15 times in a row, it's not a key at all, you just moved the mouse to press a button on the GUI. Sorry for the Rant, but I'm getting frustrated at the massive Dunning Kruger effect taking place in the Blender community. (eg. highly skilled people who give instructions forgetting that things only seem obvious to them because they already know)

@@patrickkeller2193 How come they can be meaningless strings of letters if you even have a very brief explanation of the command displayed at the same time? I can understand if you would point out that it's way too fast and it’s kind of annoying to pause the shorts so many times to follow and understand, but to call it meaningless even if you are not yet familiar with the shortcuts I don’t agree. “After that is done enable the auto-merge” - yes, it is because you pointed out that the issue is with the shortcuts that are being displayed. I did what you asked for, and while doing that I even added extra details like “(enter to confirm)” which I did only because I was not sure what is your newbie level. Maybe next time think about your question because it looks like you asked twice about something with not enough precision. (PS: I also went through my own shorts to type everything down for you. I don't remember by hear every step of each shorts and tutorial. And! when someone says "it doesn't work" I do follow my own tutorial step by step to see if I missed something, or if its a newbie issue who missed a step without being focused enough. - all this without any frustration 🥸) I encourage you to make your own tutorials and see how easy is to predict every small little error/lack of understanding that a person can make. Also good luck with reading the minds of people through text, or maybe you would not need this good luck because you sound like an expert in knowing how to make a perfect tutorial tailored for every level. Okay, is time to change the tone now haha 😀 Thank you for your comment. I appreciate the feedback even though a big part of it sounds like your own issue. I’m trying to slowly improve things, but I’m not perfect, I won’t be perfect, and I’m not here to please everyone because it's not even possible. I already started adding voice to shorts and I will continue adding to the next youtube tutorials as well. I’m also planning to improve my edits for a better understanding or maybe even a bit entertaining, but everything will take time. You are more than welcome to keep an eye on the newest shorts and tutorials and point things there. Your beginner perspective inside the feedback can evolve into many ideas inside my head or just show me what I might consider focusing more on next. If you on the other hand don’t want to do anything with my channel I wish you good luck with your projects and recommend you practice being more patient and not throwing everyone so fast into the same basket. Grant Abitt - check his channel. He is best for all the newbies out there. Have a good day.
