I always wanted to make all the pipelines native to their own DCC rather than always rely on a 3rd party where in the future you don't know if they will continue to support it or not, It's just me you can still use 3rd party addon and I like the approach of CGDive very informative and straight to the point. Easy to follow too. Thank you so much.

I've already said this in the comments for other videos but, yes. Exactly as you describe, there is a gap in information. Not that all of the information isn't out there, because it is, but it's just so scattered that it's very difficult to put together. There's also the Unreal Engine gap that you're covering. Again, there's a good bit out there, but not nearly what there is for Unity. I think I have said thank you under about 5 videos at this point, but Thank You.

If arigify is giving trouble, apply location, scale, and rotation to the metarig. It breaks when you try to apply properties or modifiers

I am going to make a video on working with Arigify. For now the best thing you could do is email the creator and explain the problem. He'll help you out. Generally you shouldn't be using the metarig with Arigify so it sounds like you're doing something not quite right.

Saying hello from the end of 2021. I hope you are pleased with how this project turned out. I am looking forward to going through it. First question: is this course relevent if I want to use Unreal for cinematics, but not for games.
@CGDive3 жыл бұрын
Hey Binyamin. We managed to cover a lot in 2021. There are still a few areas that I need to work on but we'll just keep going in 2022 :) As for your question: I'd say yes. Working only with cinematics is a bit more forgiving but I would still rather know what I am doing than hope for the best.

listen buddy, I need you to know: I love you, you are doing gods work here, but your videos absolutely make me want to fall asleep. thankfully I found all it takes to fix this is to play lofi music on another tab. could you please consider adding some royalty free music to your videos in the future?
@CGDive2 жыл бұрын
haha best comment ever. I probably won't add music for various reasons. Mainly, it would add complexity to my video editing which I try to avoid. And then other people would say, WTF is up with the music?! No thanks :P So you are on your own with the music, sorry :) Oh, try speeding up the video (1.5x ~ 2.5x). I can't watch tutorials at normal speed, especially not my tuts.

I eventually used this workflow: 1. Modelling 2. Create armature and skin that for the mesh, the armature should contain engine-favouring bone hierarchy. 3. Use the armature as "metatig" and feed it to rigify, which then generated the "controll rig" 4. Foreach bone in metarig, add a copy transform constraint to them, the constraint is configured to copy transform from control rig's bone "DEF-xx". I wrote a script for this. 5. When exporting, bake the control rig's action and store the result as a new action and link to the metarig(deforming bone) Do you have suggestions on this workflow?
@CGDive Жыл бұрын
Sounds good. If you script works well, then rock on. We also created our own addon for this in case you need it kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4ulqWR_bNugh5I

You cannot imagine just how much time I've spent trying to import fbx characters made in Maya\Max from Unity to Blender to then find that it is impossible to reimport it back while keeping the same structure for animations to work and not blow up. Can this course help me with that?
@CGDive4 жыл бұрын
My guess is that it should work with the workflows I'll present. I hope you have some patience until we get to that part of the course.
@vacantly3 жыл бұрын
Had great results so far with your help. I'm curious, will you be covering twist bones/humanoid rig in unity? The rigify rig functions with them, but in the unity humanoid system it discards rotation data on "inbetween" bones that ruins, for example, the shoulders. I'm investigating my own solutions now such as applying rotation constraints in unity, but just thought I'd ask if it will be covered! Just subbed on patreon by the way, your stuff is worth it for sure!
@CGDive3 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for subscribing on Patreon! As for twist bones, I just had a job where I needed to do just that. And I'll share a video about that in the near future. My solution is to keep using two rigs and tweak the upper arm. Basically, the last bone on the upper arm has to become the first one in the upper-arm chain and all twist-bones become its' children. It's quite unintuitive. :D Let me know if you need help.
@vacantly3 жыл бұрын
@@CGDive I think I get the idea but I'm having trouble imagining it ha ha. Do you have a screenshot of the bone setup?
