Go with blender. You can literally make your own animated series

Been really interested in iclone because I have characters but rigging them in blender or unreal is a pain for me. I feel like iclone will be great for rigging and have all of my characters animations there. I like mixamo a lot but I feel like iclone will be a great place for face animations.

the point about real-time rendering is pretty inaccurate. Blender has a very comprehensive real-time renderer in eevee

Thanks for posting this video. I've been using Daz for a little while now but I don't really like trying to animate there. I'm considering moving to iClone 8. Would I need Character Creator 4 as well to get my Daz characters into iClone 8?

Glad the video was helpful, and going over to Iclone will be a great move. Even though I use Daz for characters and props, I transfer everything over to Iclone. It is so easy to animate inside Iclone. Yes you will need Character Creator 4 to import characters from Daz, and also 3D Xchange from Reallusion if you want to import scenes or props from Daz

Love this! I have watched your videos over the years and love them. I have used Iclone and Blender for 5 years now. I cant decide which I love the most but I do end up using Iclone the most. (over 800 animations) Thanks!... *FUN🤗*

I think the part about rendering is a little bit misleading. In Blender you can have real time rendering if you use eevee render engine instead of cycles

Also, as far as animating a walk cycle in Blender, you don't have to do it from scratch. You can import all sorts of free readymade animations from Mixamo and other sources.

But is the quality dependent on your PC? Im using 2 4090 24gb GPU and ThreadRipper 64 Core CPU with 256GB Mem. Is iClone going to give me B level rendering?

Agreed! SUBSCRIBED! I love the ease of Iclone/CC but I love the quality that can be produced by Blender. Also Reallusion is EXPENSIVE! For what they charge they could work a little more on their quality of output, JMHO. Better to build all your stuff in Blender and port it over to Iclone.

@@admin9573 Its not only the power of your system but the software. Hardware is mainly for speed not quality.

I use Iclone and character creator. I've been trying to learn blender in and off for YEARS. The main thing that has always held me back from blender are the hotkeys, lol.... I can't even move the camera. In Iclone: i can create a new animation in 5 minutes. I can then fine-tune that animation and have a production in a few hours. However, if i watch a blender tutorial it goes something like this: "Hit ctrl+b then click the skeleton and press tab+shift. Then middle mouse+r and alt+t" blah blah blah. I find myself saying "huh? So how in the world would i ever remember to hit alt+r in this area then shift+middle mouse in the other area?", exit blender tutorial and give up.... lol With blender i feel like i need a year or two just to remember the 5,000 hotkeys to move my camera around first.

I feel your pain. Hehe. Blender is a great software but the learning curve is very steep. Like you said. With Iclone you can have an animation within hours.
@revenger681

@startanimating695 i really want to learn it. I don't like being constrained in iClone. Though with mesh editor, character creator, headshot & accuface you can mold and edit characters exactly how you like. Blender just offers so much more. I spent the last hour watching Blender tutorials and I'm already confused all over again...lol but I've seen some truly amazing short films made in Blender.

You have to be really committed you can't just expect it to be all the same thing dude that's the route of being an artist, you want to learn something new like a different software you better expect a whole new interface. The hotkeys aren't broken they are more complex so just take your time don't try to be a master on the first day it took me a year to get my head around blender.

Just one more question. Is it possible take a photo of some dangle earrings and add it to a character in creator 4, and also in Daz 3d? Obviously I need them to move naturally with the model as she turns her head. It's for a promotional.

Hi, I quickly had a look inside Character Creator, Iclone and on the Reallusion website to see if I can't find an answer for you. I don't have any earrings in my collection to test them out. I wanted to see if you can apply physics to the earrings to see what option will give you the best result, since Iclone has different physics settings. I know you can also add custom physics to hair and that should work with earrings, but it is very complicated job, because you need to export the physics map to photoshop, make your adjustments, save it and import it back. Maybe try adding the different physics to the earrings and see which one works best and looks more natural. Otherwise what you can also do is import the earrings into 3D Xchange, add bones to it and export it back to Iclone as a prop. Then you simply attach the earring props to the ears and animate the movement manually. I hope this answers your question. Like I said, I don't have any earrings inside Character Creator or Iclone to test this for you.
