Now let's be real for a minute. Blender is the better Design and Rendering package, period. Blender (especially the latest Version) is taking over the 3D Design Industry for a reason. Stuff you previously would do in 3DS, Maya or Cinema 4D and then export to Keyshot, Marmoset etc. can be done in Blender alone now. HOWEVER, Blender is not a CAD Package, it's a 3D Design Package and that is an important thing to keep in mind. While there is an AddOn for Blender that gets close to what real CAD can do, I would recommend that you stick to something Like AutoCAD, Revit, Pytha or Sketchup for professional work. Same goes for Engineering. I see people in the comments saying blender is used for engineering... it actually isn't. It might be used as a tool for rendering purposes or for rapid prototyping and look development, but it is not capable of providing the needed file formats (step, iges, 3D Pdf) and it is not capable of doing the needed simulations. The only enviroment that Blender is a fully acceptable and standalone option in, is the entertainment Industry.

I started modeling for video games, but I've fallen in love putting my cars into scenes (garages, houses with a garage, etc) and I'm starting to get into archviz for fun and possibly at my job. Do you use any addons? I've tried Archimesh it's nice for free, and I have access to all of the interior design pieces I need to build rooms... but I struggle with lighting and making the render look great. They look real, but also real dark haha.

My only personal complain about blender is that, it's not really good for doing CAD as there's no built in ways to do "to digit" precision modelling. Sure i have FreeCAD and OpenSCAD, both are not perfect (in terms of available feature) yet still powerful, but then file management would quickly become messy, if it's needed to modify back and forth.

What do you mean there is no way, i'm allways working in metres in blender and is as precise as it could be.
@FlameRat_YehLon4 жыл бұрын
@@im7thson That's only if it's possible to memorize the current length of everything. And there doesn't seem to be anyway to modify a length in precise if it doesn't align to any of : 1. world axis, 2. local axis, 3. the normal of currently selected faces. Or maybe it can be done if there are tons of empties just there to angle everything precisely (so that there are always some axis to snap to), which would be trivial in OpenSCAD but probably not in Blender (and it isn't needed anywhere other than these two software anyway).

i have both, but my sketchup is the old one before Trimble acquired it. that means once that laptop dies, it is lost. i mainly use it for generating cutting lists and configurations before i build something, just to order the right amount of timber or steel or whatever. yes i can do that in blender without worrying about how it renders, but its way too slow and human-error prone. sketchup is king, but i cant afford it subs fee.

@bilalshaikh58513 жыл бұрын
It Might, See the thing is you have to clean the meshes, UV mapping and apply material after u have imported the model (Cause there are many mesh defects etc once imported from sketchup), If you are good in this workflow there is no difference in using sketchup or blender (mostly) with respect to the end result.
