Thanks very much for sharing this, very interesting topic. It would also be great to see in a follow-up video a more detailed comparison between the renderers (advantages and disadvantages, technical issues, compatibility with specific 3d and CAD software packages, materials transfer issues, CPU-GPU utilisation, MacOS vs Windows compatibility and performance etc etc - it's a huge topic! :-). Absolutely true what you say about most clients not needing or not being able to afford hyper-realistic renderings, and that architects should first focus on the architecture and later-on as they gain more experience, move into advanced rendering techniques. However, as technology improves (both hardware and software), third party renderers are becoming more effective (even if their price is still high), plus, most are offered with subscription-based pricing, which is very flexible. At the same time, their advanced capabilities can be used in a more artistic way, to produce a variety of effects, instead of striving just for absolute photorealism. If used properly, they can offer a good balance between speed and sophistication for a good quality architectural presentation. Architectural visualisation is also extensively used in the movies & special effects industry, for building environments and FX (cityscapes, buildings cross-sections, interiors etc,), or advertising world (similar applications) so if one wants to specialise in that industry (instead of purely working as an Architect) choosing and learning one or more 3rd party renderer may be essential. Thanks again, all the best

I've worked with V-Ray for a decade but have ditched it in favor of D5 Render with Rhino 3D, and I'm really happy with the snappy fast workflow with a realtime renderer combined with true ray tracing support :-D Works really well with both exteriors and interiors.

Hello everyone I am an architecture major graduate and all my student life I used Twinmotion so I wanted to share some tips 1-definitely use quixel megascans/ if you register with your epic games account you will access the 3d assets and materials for free 2- add grudge to some surfaces to avoid an artificial look 3- do not forget to add decals to your models 4-if reflective surfaces are not effective add reflection probes to the surfaces 5-play with lighting a lot(especially ambient light) because unlike Lumion you cannot decide on the darkness of the shadows which will result in darker, unreadable images 6-definitely go over your renders on photoshop/ balancing the contrast and tones, shadow darkness and add real skies Twinmotion is such an amazing free renderer that u can use and impress your teachers it is just a bit harder to achieve amazing results
