Can't you just use variegated yarn? Is there some reason why tufters always use single color yarn?

Variegated yarn skeins aren’t all made the same. They might have the same colors but they’re not all, for example, pink to purple to blue. Variegated is usually random. Gradient yarns would work but they’re expensive. Especially for a piece this big. & to make sure the purpley blending part happens where I want it to, it’s hard.

Have you ever tried tufting the gradient part first? Edited to add. With your drippies you need to leave an inch space in the narrowest places to give you enough room to have fabric to fold over.

Ooh! I love the keyboard rugs! My favorite color too! 💚💚💚 It gives me an idea! ArtsyMadwoman tufted buttons from your empty spaces on your backing! They could be either buttons to wear with the pin in the back or u could make em with ribbon between two circles to hand on rear view mirror in the car. Something like that. But they would b really cool way to advertise your designs. Just a thought 🥰
