Photographing varnished paintings tip: buy a polarizing filter. They are cheap and will remove all the white shine from the painting, leaving it beautiful on the whole piece, showing it in all the glory with its juicy colors ;)
@TenHundred4 сағат бұрын
Agreed. I made a whole video on Circular Polarization Filters for artists a couple years ago. Artists who film or photograph their art need to know about those things!

The first part had me shouting references people references as Kaypea always does. She makes sure I never forget to get plenty of source material. That really was super helpful. Thanks Tenhun. I've bought a few things from you, UK shipping is horrible as usual, but I have to say the picture I bought my son for his 21st, he absolutely loves it. I'm a clay artist who's about to try canvas work for the first time soon so that really was amazingly helpful.

Thank you for this talk Ten! Without knowing you have been with me since my early days as an artist. Nowadays my work is getting more recognised and so I watch less tutorials videos, but every time I come here to watch yours, it reminds me of my early days and I feel so proud and grateful. That's all because of you my man! Thank you so much!

I buy Golden Fluid acrylic in 1 oz sizes. Because the paint is so fluid and so pigmented, these tiny bottles last forever. This is the best paint. It changed my whole painting game.

RIGHT! WHERE IS A TEN HUN BOOK, getting real here, I have your playing cards, a signed print, some tees and a hoodie, all shipped to Northern Ireland, but WHERE IS A BOOK? I’d buy the hell out of that (well 2 or 3, one to love, one to keep pretty and one for others grubby hands), and I’m sure I wouldn’t be the only one who’d love this.

I noticed what looked like snowboards being painted in one part of this... Any tips on sealing up surfaces that would be subject to wear? Like are there hard resins that get along with acrylics? Even without the extremes of stuff that could be scuffed or scraped like skate or snowboards with art on them... There's ideas for stuff like putting art on table surfaces or the MDF backing used on clip-boards, collector/storage cases or other wooden boxes, etc. I'm curious if there's any existing good approach for that, instead of having to completely experiment there. What's good to endure on durable goods?

Hi Peter thank you for the video, I have only just got back to Acrylic Painting this Year. I've been using Wood Postcards that I have purchased & Wooden Roundals & Board Canvases. But I struggle to get the sticker they insist on putting on the Wood Postcards. I've tried to paint over with White paint but it ruins any Art Work, I've used Wipes but they leave it a mess & I've scratched the surface when using a Craft knife, but it never budges & it's only comes off in one piece, the other option was break a nail on my right hand. I've never bothered with Varnishes, though I know that I should. But the thing with me I can't stand the smell, Yes I have used them outside & wear protection. But it's when they dried I some how still smell the oder & I'm left gagging or sick 🤢 it's the same thing with Paint, I have to use Non Toxic paint too & when paint Companies change the consistency of the Paint they now no longer work for me as they are too Runny, I have now started too look for a New Non Toxic brand. Which is a nightmare, when I have only used one Brand of paint since I was a Teenager. If I want to use my New Set of paint, I wait for Summer time so I can sit in the fresh Air to Paint & I'm not Sick. I'm not opening the Window in Winter Time as is too darn cold & I can say now That I never get stuck as to what I want on a Canvas or Sketchbook. I make Various Items With Felt Sheets, see my You Tube Profile photo. I'm currently working on Moths , Ducks , Ducklings , Sloths,Tigers, Lions & Panther's for Christmas Decorations Next Year. If I put them on the Felt without a Sketch of what I'm going to be putting on, which I did when I did my First Ever Sloth it looked Rubbish & there is no way to getting rid of pen, Yes I know chalk should be used, but my hands rubs it out & since I was asked for a Sloth by someone in a Animal Charity Shop I said not a problem. Now I've got a NEW POPULAR MAKE of a Neon Thread Sleeping Tiger though It was my Mini Bears & Fall Felt Mugs with Marshmallows. I'm Sketching them out & working out Colours, though it's difficult matching the Coloured Threads to the pens I use & so Far I have 15 ready to start with. I have at least another 50 to get sorted out & planned for Next Year, but I have one or two already done.

Bro, the indicated series is not a quality indicator, it sorts the paints by how expensive the pigment is to obtain. The quality remains the same. Titanium dioxide is very easy to make, therefore is cheap. Burnt umber is dirt cheap because it is literally dirt. Cadmium or cobalt pigments are expensive because they are hard to make. Sheesh.
@TenHundred4 сағат бұрын
I never said the higher the series the higher the quality. I said the higher the series the more expensive. Which is exactly what you’re saying… so what are we talking about about here 🤷
