What I wish for the future of MileStone comics and the existing black/well diverse characters, is they get the love and recognition they deserve. I would love to see static back on TV with it's realistic story telling, and a movie. Icon getting more light and shine in both comics and TV. The blood Syndicate would be a great live action TV show for young and mature adults. I also want Blue Marvel, Blackveil Nightmask, Monica Rambeau, Blade, and any other character to get there shine on. And above all else get a damn video for all of them (yes blade and Spawn had one but let's be real they could have been better)
@robinlue20085 жыл бұрын
In order for that to happen the "black characters" would have to be owned by the brothers/ sisters that created them. That means no DC no Marvel owning them because they will be a pigeon hold on them.
@ampocalypsew38835 жыл бұрын
@@robinlue2008 sure for Static and the rest of the Milestone characters, but as for Blue Marvel, Adam Blackveil Nightmask, Blade, Monica Rambeau ect. They are originally Marvel own, so if anything they should be given to good black writers, you know the ones that avoid the social agenda like feminist and SJW or anything that follows those backwards logic
@BlerdWithoutFear5 жыл бұрын
Comics have always had a social agenda. Always. Lets not pretend like this is a new thing. The only reason you notice it as much as you do now is because you're no longer a child and can actually rationalize what they're talking about now. If not for "SJW's" you wouldn't have any of these characters... So... yeah... By the way... McDuffie? SJW.... There...
@ampocalypsew38835 жыл бұрын
@@BlerdWithoutFear true but they never overdosed on it, prime example would be the static TV show they dealt with racism but never going over the top with it, and the only ones that did keep those theme was Xmen. But most of the comics that focus so much on fem, sjw, and ect don't last that long. Look at how many times they rebooted Carol Danvers Captain marvel, and the DC furies was very disrespectful towards Darksied

As a young Black Man in the nineties, I made it a priority to collect every Milestone comic until my sophomore year. I still have most of my ICON comics. It was refreshing to see accurate depiction of ourselves. This is what we need today, to create our own stories, instead of looking for others to do it. Milestone forever, RIP Dewayne McDuffie.

@@BlerdWithoutFear I really hope so. The way they dropped out view hurt my feelings because I never cared if the comic was popular as long as it fed the need to represent the unrepresented in its publications. I never wanted a "black" version of a white character so when Milestone came out I felt finally someone in publication understands. The originality displayed was second to none because it was inspired by people unrepresented in comics. Well thank you for shining light on this. You are one of my favorite watches on the tube. Sadly, the character was fine in the late 80's early 90's but let's be real. He's a the bastard child of Batman, Iron Man and Tony Hawk. Aside from being on the New Warriors, they didn't do much to make him able to stand on his own as a character. That is the fault of not hiring Priest to write his comic.
@BlerdWithoutFear5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, unfortunately Night Thrasher was just a by-product of bad booking and creating something that was so pigeon holed into being a "product of the time" that its hard for him to come back now. A lot of black characters made around that time suffer the same affliction
@ebonyavengerstevenson13215 жыл бұрын
And if I remember correctly they were initially pretty successful, I met them at Wizard World Chicago and everyone was very excited about the books it was a good time and the characters were very reflective of African American culture and Denys Cowans art was great especially on Hardware but if I remember correctly he designed almost everything for the first four books.
