Dope video Ernie! I knew Sam had avian telepathy in the comics but I idk the in depth mechanics of it. The way you explained it sounds very interesting and I wish he had that ability in the MCU. Like the way he used it at @6:45 to see through the eyes of an owl in the dark is very cool. Since many birds of prey like falcons, eagles, hawks, owls, etc, have acute vision he could use that for out of reach surveillance and spy missions. @7:11//@7:54 Sam communicating with any avian lifeforms is dope. @8:15 enhancing his avian telepathy with a cybernetic tech implant based on cerebro is cool. And Ernie, my brother, you got to get some of your facts right. John Walker does not and has never got his powers from the super soldier serum. He got his augmented abilities from the Power Broker. He's actually stronger than Steve Rogers. He can lift 10 tons while Steve can only max lift 1000 pounds if I remember correctly. Their power origin and levels are not the same. ✌🏾

I have the facsimile of when cap and falcon first met. I have a graded issue 1 of when he became Cap in 2014 I have the homage variant#1 of his new series that I will be getting graded as well. I'm convinced the only reason people hate Sam Wilson is because he didn't have a cooler costume or an edgier backstory out the gate (Plus the lack of narrative focus). If he had an edgier tone, he would be thought of as a batman that can control bats.

I first encountered Sam Wilson as a child reading comic books in the 1970s. He's always had a special place in my heart because of that. I think Sam is the most interesting incarnation of Cap, and at least part of that is because I think characters with no powers or weaker powers are inherently more interesting. I admit I haven't read a large number of Captain America comics, so my opinion may not matter much, and I hope you'll forgive me for saying this before watching the whole video, but I always saw the story function of Sam as introducing the topic of racism to Captain America stories. I also see Isiah Bradley that way, and he has much harsher things to say about racism. Because of the way I look at the Sam Wilson character, I found the movie version of Sam a little disappointing, but that Falcon and the Winter Soldier made up for lost time and finally gave me the version of Sam that I wanted. Racism was in the text and the subtext, and they even introduced Isiah to mainstream audiences. The show had a variety of narrative flaws because of the pandemic, but I was deliriously happy with the show because I finally got an interpretation of the character more in line with how I see the character. I hope the upcoming Cap movie continues what they started in FatWS. I'm also hoping we see the start of Eli's heroic journey. 16:13 Agreed. What makes Captain America isn't powers, but morals. Sam has what it takes, Bucky couldn't because his past freaked people out. 22:30 You know who else doesn't have superpowers and regularly beats up people with powers? The Dora Milaje. They have to deal with Wakandan tech, Wakandan magic, invading supervillains, conflicts with superheroes, a war with Latveria, and a war with Atlantis.

Sam was the perfect person to take the shield. I like Bucky in the mcu, but the Wolverine Origins story doesn't paint him in the best light. In the early years, he was by Steve's side to do the things Steve wouldn't be comfortable doing. He was a straight-up killer someplace between Wolverine and Sabretooth.

Incorrect. The first test subjects AFTER losing the serum that turned Steve into a supersoldier were Black soldiers to try to recreate the serum. Sure, Isaiah was one of the earliest super soldiers after Steve, but he was not the first Cap. [Edit: If you meant to say "the first *Black* Cap" then yes, in an unofficial capacity he was the first. The only thing Blerd got wrong was John Walker (USAgent) having the super soldier serum. Honest mistake and easy to overlook, but he has an enhancement from the Power Broker not sss.]

Yeah, hes been fleshed out in the context of Cap, but he had decades as Falcon w/ Steve and solo before he became his version of Cap. Dick Greyson had years after Robin as Nightwing, and then took on the Bat-Mantle. The more hours that Sam gets on film/tv gets him closer to the folks who don’t read comics.

Great vid as always. The issue with MCU Sam Wilson (SW) vs comic book version of SW is that MCU SW has yet to have a great showing in the MCU. MCU SW was relegated to Cap's yes man with finding Bucky, surrendering, and getting bodied by MCU Iron Man in the MCU interpretation of the Avengers Civil War. Wilson was majorly pushed to the side in MCU's Avengers AoU and was among the few people knocked out of the box in Ultron's MCU debut during the party scene. To appease the intolerant audience, the MCU threw in Bucky and John Walker during the miniseries, and as a result, it greatly distracted from the point of putting over SW's journey to becoming Captain America. Most fans then assumed it would be Bucky picking up the shield first out of the two of them. The issue with Sam Wilson ultimately comes to poor writing and development of the character. White audiences embrace Black Panther because he is giving much more attention with having several notable adversaries and a great story behind him. After watching this video, I still do not know who SW's lead antagonist is. We know Red Skull was to Rogers, and in the MCU, Bucky has Baron Zemo. Hopefully, the MCU adaptation SW will get a great story because it would seem Chris Evans will not be returning in that capacity, although I am starting the rumor he will cameo as an evil variant Rogers just like RDJ as Dr Doom.
