Staying conscious of our need for God is what keeps us positioned to recognize what God is doing in the earth. God is not looking for people who want fame and influence, but for those who will surrender their lives to Him, willing to say “yes” to whatever He is saying. Being poor in spirit, choosing to live in dependency on the Lord, is what positions us to be used powerfully by Him.

Oh, man! WOW! With Bible in hand, I asked God this morning what He would like to show me today. He told me to go to KZbin. At this point I questioned what voice I was hearing. I said, "OK, Lord, if this is you, let the very first video that comes up be the message you want me to see. (KZbin suggests plenty of other junk to me, so I knew this was unlikely.) I opened KZbin, and this was the first video recommended to me. "OK, Lord. Here we go!" I found myself stopping and backing up repeatedly in the first part of this message because so many things were flooding into my mind! God recently pointed me to read the story of Solomon's dream from 2 Chronicles 1. From there, He directed me to Genesis 13, where Abram gave Lot the choice of the land, and Lot chose the lush green valley, while Abram took the harsh mountain wilderness. It stood out to me that both Abram and Solomon didn't choose comfort or wealth. In both cases, God blessed them for not going after low-hanging fruit. Pastor Bill added to this by pointing out that this is what Jesus meant when He said, "Seek first the Kingdom of God, and all these other things will be added to you." This message here just illuminated new facets on what God showed me earlier this week. Thank you, Pastor Bill! I found myself learning, and then worshipping with your congregation!

Thank you Father for this msg., from Bill. This touched me deeply and being poor in spirit, as Bill referenced, opens the door for so much more, in the spirit and from God. I work with the chemically dependent and at every opportunity I'm attempting to open their eyes to their greater need. So many are just unaware of the spiritual world and what being human is and is not. I just want to continually be aware of the Spirit's move, day to day, not just at my job but in my community, Praise to God, Amen.

What is "poor in spirit"? I have always taken it to mean humble. So the real meaning is humble in spirit. Having the knowledge that you are inadequate and open to God to fortify , strengthen and rescue you.

To be poor in spirit means that one is destitute of self and totally dependent upon God. This person is spiritualy bankrupt of themselves and they realize that they can't live this life without God. In addition to this, this person has everything that pertains to life and Godliness because the Kingdom of heaven is theirs.

Things arent going well for me and my family, and now were also about to face homelessness. 😣 Im feeling so scared, frustrated, desperate and hopeless. Idk how and where we are going to get the means to pay for a new place. We literally only have a week's worth of money rn. My streetfood job isnt enough for everything.
