The last verse of this song touched me because I dealt with the same thing. In 1969 we integrated and I had a a crush on a white girl in our class. She liked me also. Even though we were cool with each other we knew our families would have a fit about it so we just kept everything low profile. Well last year I just did a search on Facebook and lo and behold I found her! She lived 2 hours away. We reconnected after all these years. My wife and her husband had both passed and we were alone. We've been having a wonderful time catching up and spending time together. I guess it's true that love never dies.

This song is not TYPICAL of 90s music, or of any decade's pop music; it is especially heartfelt and touching, in its applying an individual story, to shout down the great ill, plaguing human society. But beautiful sentiments did not die at the millennium. Of course, musical tastes are unique, however, I'll offer as examples: Halo; Stick With You; Collide; What About Now; and the Dixie Chicks cover of, "Landslide."
