This episode's end-goal was to demonstrate how Pharynx's point of standing up for yourselves was important. As such, the show demonstrated that Thorax being a solo-leader ends you up with touchy-feely cute happy family stuff, and not much else. That's pretty expected, seeing as Thorax is literally a gigantic cinnamon roll. Thorax's sole concern was making the changelings happy, so he unintentionally enabled the hive to lower its guard and forget about defending itself. Pharynx exists as Thorax's opposite so that they balance each other out to create an ideal hive. Thorax being love, Pharynx being strength. Too much of Pharynx gets you closer to what we had with Chrysalis, too much Thorax is G3 MLP. Both? Perfect balance. :)

I think I enjoyed this episode a lot more than many people did. Probably because I found the Changedlings being super saccharine funny. Like, it wasn't treated like a complete good thing, them being like this, and the changedlings still clearly get mad and have anger inside them. Them shunning violence is a character flaw that Pharynx will help correct. I saw all the super feel goody stuff more a reflection of Thorax than the hive as a hole. Thorax is a dork. Thorax is the guy who pushed this stuff as "the way things have to be now"

Anyone notice that this is the first episode ever to have neither the Mane 6 or the CMC in it? Every episode before this had at least one of the Mane 6 or one of the CMC make at least a cameo appearance. Yet it was still a Very good episode. It would be nice to have more episodes that focused entirely on side characters like this.

Huh... good point. It's strange, I feel like there must have been some other episode that didn't have any of those characters in it, but now that I think about it I can't think of any other examples. Slice of Life had cameos by the mane 6 and CMC, and even To Where and Back Again had them at the start and end of the episode... I guess there have already been so many episodes focusing on secondary characters that it's easy to miss that this particular one didn't include any of the mane 6 or CMC at all.

Doing more of this could help the Mane 6 and CMC. Giving them a break while exploring other characters. You know how they say absence makes the heart grow fonder. Speaking of which, can't wait for episodes 19 and 20, which puts the spotlight on a certain character that has been seriously lacking in attention these last two seasons. 😊 It's a pleasant surprise that she is getting two episodes in a row. 😊

Having an episode with none of the mane six or CMC is just further proof that the show is treating Starlight as another main character (not that I have a problem with that!)

The one thing that I don't like about this episode is the hitting yourself. It just kinda came out of no where. I feel like there should be an abstract meaning implied from it or something idk. Overall, nice reaction! Glad you can get the uploads up.

Yeah, this episode got a copyright dispute rejected so we tried reuploading with a small amount of transparency on the video overlay, and that seemed to work.

Gotcha... odd though... I uploaded my reaction to this episode with episodes 16 and 18 all in one vid at full transparency and had no issues... is it cause your channel is more popular?!? xD I mean, I'm only 2,600 subs away! xP
