"Mancunian Films" was a small-time company that originally made pictures using an old church in Manchester, England, as a base. They must have gone up in the world to have made this one, which had decent actors and sets.
@stuartlawsonbeattie14114 жыл бұрын
I don't kow, why would they still say made at Pinewood studios at the end? I am not disagreeing, but am mystified myself, cheers. Brilliant film. Did mancunian films change hands then, becasue I can remember quite a few classics made by them.

The inflation rate in United Kingdom between 1963 and 2019 was 1,644.84%, which translates into a total increase of £8,224,212.25. This means that 500,000 pounds in 1963 are equivalent to 8,724,212.25 pounds in 2019. In other words, the purchasing power of £500,000 in 1963 equals £8,724,212.25 in 2019. The average annual inflation rate between these periods was 5.24%.

dwiggins01 no, a guinea is *not* the same as a pound. If it was, it would be called a pound, not a guinea. a guinea meant an amount of one pound and one shilling (21 shillings), or one pound and five pence (£1.05) in decimalised currency. Although the guinea had been around since I think 1200’s it was out of circulation from the mid 1800’s but still used in pricing right up until the 1970’s. Check out this simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guinea_(British_coin)

Dear dear, you tell the plot and then you fail to disclose the year of the movie. Why do you continually do this. I am most grateful for your sharing, but fail to understand your motives. Great film, one of the best thank you. Pinewood is the best, I wish they would return with black and white as well. I am sick of modern colour with plastic casts with the same lips and eyebrows, no taste in clothing and shockingly masculine women and effeminate men, no thanks to special effects and digital cartoonisation as well, cheers.
@rubytuesday54124 жыл бұрын
Haha, so true. All the women these days ~ following the herd with over-inflated lips and too thick stencilled eyebrows! Give me movies from this era any day. I could count on one hand how many "Hollywood" type movies I've seen made after 2000.

Great movie, well worth your time. I put it right up there with some of the best Ive seen. Only low points was having to listen to the "well known crooner"Ronnie Carroll...who sucked.
