Unfortunately, I had to reupload this video due to a rendering issue that made a section of the video unwatchable. This means that all the comments I had received are gone. Apologies for that! Also, I say near the beginning that the video is not monetised. I am currently challenging this due to fair use so I will update accordingly. At the moment, KZbin may still be placing ads within the video. I have my first public livestream in over a year happening on Sunday the 2nd June. If you are free, I hope you can come along - kzbin.infojDRuh4APrUA?feature=share

I love this album. I have really soft spot for it. In my teen years I could listen to it for hours every day. When I listen to it now it always remind me of my youthful days 🙂, my friends, our rpg sessions and time spended together. The nostalgia level is just through the roof. Its been 25 years but it feels like it was yesterday.

Oooh, best Tolkien music ever! We're very inspired by Blind Guardian in our approach to composing Tolkien music.

I didn’t think this video was going to be for me. I don’t really enjoy heavy metal but gave it a shot and I couldn’t turn it off. I loved how you seamlessly wove the poetry of the music with the actual stories they reference. Great job! It was a great refresher too as I haven’t visited these stories in a while. Thanks!

Blind Guardian are one of the few metal bands that evokes the same feeling of sitting down and listening to a classical orchestra. It’s not just thrashing about and being loud for the sake of being loud. each song is like a movement in a classical suite.

I am so glad I found this video again, I have to thank you and Blind Guardian for motivating me to read The Silmarillion, The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings books. I am so glad I did before I went to see Blind Guardian live because knowing the stories behind the songs makes the concert so much better, I was able to guess a few songs based on the story description the singer gave us.

Wow, great video about my favorite album and gateway into metal. I remember being 14 yo and having just heard Nightfall, and trying to make it fit into The Lord Of The Rings, and I just couldn't make it work... a few years later I discovered The Silmarillion and it all made sense. Now, like 25 years later, I thought I had this album covered, but you actually made me realize I had misunderstood a song or two, especially Song of Sorrows. But that's great, I love finding out that I'm wrong and learning something new :) I found this video through the video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKC8m4Ccp7R0mZo and it was a great watch. I just felt I wanna share because who doesn't love great videos which doesn't focus on rage and clickbait!

It also heavily depends on the album of theirs and while others call them power metal Blind Guardian do not really see themselves as a power metal band. They are more speed/thrash metal in the beginning and then they shape into power metal to then slowly transition into more progressive power metal.

Honestly, can you blame Feanor? The treachery. Your father murdered. Your greatest works, that even the gods couldn’t replicate, stolen. A soul that was born with so much fire & energy that it made the woman who bore him give up her eternal life in Valinor & reside in the Halls for eternity. He was made that way. Morgoth got off lucky, he got a reprieve from Feanor’s vengeance. At least until the Last Battle. Feanor did nothing wrong.

It's a fascinating album from the sound of it and I shall have to give it a listen some day. Unfortunately, I'm not a metal fan so I highly doubt I would be listening to it again.
@doomhippie66737 ай бұрын
I like metal and I love Tolkien's work - but unfortunately I do not believe they go together well. Metal being a modern electric kind of music that is built on the foundation of industrialized societies something that Tolkien's heroes constantly fight against.
@bilbobagend81554 ай бұрын
I find it pretty nice, actually. It's power metal, and very symphonic. Sure there's a lot of guitars, but it's not very harsh (in comparison to a lot of other metal). It's also really varied, for instance 'The Eldar' is instrumentalized with just a piano. Though for Tolkien music that isn't metal, I'd recomend Clamavi de Profundis. They do covers of Tolkien's actual poems.
