Nothing is worse than a singer going out of key to reach places their voice can no longer find but Hansi has refused to play that game over the years. His vocals are so spot-on and in control on this song, sounding nothing short of amazing. The band overall really feels like they've hit a groove with all of these new tracks, blending their classic elements with their newer style but not going overboard with either. If the production end holds up, this has potential to be one of the best Blind Guardian albums to date. \m/

(Keep faith, keep faith, in barren wonder) Great Lord, your love's divine I spread your grace I share your light Four shores of Hell were burning In purgatory's smell When a preacher with a crucifix Brought mayhem and despair So here comes a new god, be brave A gospel illusion, the breeding of sin, I carry light I share this grace, I share our pain Somehow we're not one yet somehow we're the same Now strong in blue It shall begin, soon forgotten with thе ring Hail, nice to meet you Another newborn strangеr I'm so glad you have made it Somehow you've made it Welcome to the promised land There are no sights, there are no miracles (Shall spare no names) You should not reveal (For the American Gods) The secrets of the American Gods Just hold to infinity (No one cares for names) You can't escape, better hide now The secrets of the American Gods So when I look upon These fields of misery Who would not sacrifice a son? My son is now gone We share our tricks, we share our oaths Discarded plans, distorted use It's dripping blood fields It's what this land needs Life's creeping back at you, back at you Sadly to say, but Hope there is no guiding spark So bright, you're blazing starlight And we are watching you, watching you Stranger in a newborn land Of formless Gods and warlock miracles (All these fields of crows) You should not reveal (From the American Gods) The secrets of the American Gods Just hold to infinity (No one cares for names) You better bow down, praise the new lords The secrets of the American Gods Take a look at yourself All behold, here's another trick But now in light of hope and glory It is time to close your eyes, I shall live All sticks of the stem shall Resurrect these moments gone Contemplate desire An eternal flame's burning down Don't be scared, follow the plan All lives can stream like birds singing Behold your Father of violence The one-eyed god is sad I thought you'd know that The greatest liar is telling you the total truth I thought you'd know that I'm your master Stranger in an unknown land Of roaring silence dead and miracles (Bloody fields, bloody roots) I will now reveal (For the American Gods) The secrets of the American Gods Just hold to infinity (No one cares for names) The moment is right, you should cry out The secrets of the American Gods The American Gods Yes, we travel all alone A new play, a new scene Dripping blood seals the deal When we enter a new world Stranded we're wandering Time, time means nothing To the American Gods No more sorrows, praise the American Gods You are burning, yes, you are burning Or you must conquer your fear You better save yourself But now obey the American Gods You better save yourself

Holy shirt! If you look deeper to the meaning of this song, you would find a lot of references from a lot of things, "one eyed god", is one of this things, is a reference to masonry, but take in account the themes from Blind Guardian songs, it isn't also far fetch to picture the one eye god as Odin, and in fact cover art literally shows this, but you only get the meaning if you connect this. Another point is that Christianity borrow a lot of concepts from other cultures, for instance, protestants picture the devil as a dragon, dragons are common in the nordic folklore. Catholics actually have more in common with roman culture. So you can definitely make a connection that God has aspects of all powerful ones gods from other mythologies, the Catholic God is more like Zeus / Jupiter. I maybe speculating too much here, but damn, this made my brain get hot...

Such a unique and legendary band. Been following them since 1998. I discovered them while shopping for some new metal albums. I remember the shop owner was a huge, long haired and bearded guy, just like a bad ass biker! He recommended me to have a listen to BG. "Nightfall in Middle Earth" just came out and it just blew me away! BG is the first band that made me really appreciate all styles of metal as I was more of a thrash/death metal guy at the time. I have been following them and other power metal bands ever since. Long live BG! Thank you for making such great music!

I completely agree! It took me a while to embrace The Red Mirror, I had to let go of some things and give it a few listens, and just love The Ninth Wave now. Most of these newer tracks, I just settle in, and it feels so familiar yet so new. They pulled of something not many artists or musicians can: blending of old and new without it feeling too contrived or forced. Hansi’s voice master is def a big part of it.

I love how Hansi is like the most normal looking dude, but he can just bust out those majestic vocals like nothing!

A fine Power Metal tune from this evergreen (virtually eternal!) German band. They sound better than ever. The production is the star of this one - absolutely outstanding! A truly superb mix with every track used to the fullest - there's so much going on all at once, and you can hear everything crystal clear. Whoever mixed it, Halestorm and Slash should be smashing the door down to hire him after the absolute pig's ear they made of the production on their latest uploads. A big thumbs up for everything else - melody, musicianship, arrangements, tempo. It's the production however that raises it above the average. My Score: Good 3*

I have to completely disagree. Yes, it's all somehow put into place, but it misses so much of the aggression that makes metal great, that made releases like Follow the Blind great. The guitars are turned to mush, the vocals are layered beyond reason and the whole thing sounds like any metal song from the last years, and I don't mean that in a good way. I wonder what they would put out if they recorded a song nowadays with only 1 vocal track and no orchestral instruments.

Everyone is chilling and having fun on 2:42. I like that. They're like "yeah, we're professionals, but still watch us having fun while we record our professional music video". Now I'm curious about behind-the-scenes footage, that would be interesting to watch.
