Wacken normally has crowd around the size of 80.000 (or 80,000 for the American among you all) these days. And yes if Hansi wanted to he would not need to sing "The Bard's Song" it became kind of an anthem. The crowd continued to sing Valhalla while leaving the in-field long after the band left the stage. BG live is just on a whole other level compared to most other Bands.

I've seen Maiden, Priest, Cooper, Motörhead, all the great ones. And for me, personally, nothing comes close to Blind Guardian and the energy that you can feel at (and after) their concerts. (Not saying the other ones are bad, they are directly after BG for me)

Blind Guardian is an incredibly unique band - they're a very big band, but the no matter how big or how small the venue they play, they have a really tight knit connection to their audiences and fans; I've seen them live 10+ times by now, starting early in the 90s, and they just are one of those bands that have something special that can't be replicated. On top of all that, they're all very good people and truly considerate and approachable when it comes to their fans - Hansi especially intentionally goes out of his way to make everyone happy, something that he and many others (in his words) learnt from Dio.

Blind Guardian....since the first record I am a fan of them, watched them countless times. They are just awesome :) Thanks for the great reaction. By the way, there about 75-85k people there. Wacken is a very small village in the north of Germany (actually only 1 hour away from me). It transformes one time in the year into the captiol of heavy metal :D. My first concert? Slayer...and I was 14 and blown away. Metalheads are family and never ever I experienced so much kindness as in this bunch of people. Please keep on with your reactions.

Yup, I was there, 5th row from the stage. Maybe my best concert experience ever, possibly only topped by Blind Guardian in a very small venue in Bratislava the year after. Their concerts are constant goosebump territory. I've been to quite a few concerts of big and small bands, but the BG crowd always had the most "family" feeling of them all.

Been a fan of BG for 25 years, been to multiple of their show and i can honestly say, you haven't lived until you went to a BG show. I still recall my first BG show, it was sold out but my sister found someone that was selling their ticket. I didn't care that i was going alone to see them, i HAD to go. Long story short, turned out a bunch of my friends also went to see them and i bumped into them during the show. Once a metalhead, you are never truly alone in a metal show. Hell even before i bumped into my friends, people i didn't even know offered me a seat next to them to hang out. It was way more intimate tho, the place held only 400 to 500 spots but even so, when the bard song hit, everyone of us sang it. It was pretty magical to be a part of.

You will not find any metal band across the globe that has this many songs which dont even require the lead singer to do nothing or barely anything to have such an astonishing atmosphere, Hansi is truly one of the GOATs, Blind Guardian is!

Blind Guardian is really something very special. You picked great songs but there are tons more where those came from. The live versions are great but I think listening to Hansi in his full glory would be a revelation. He is among my top 10 singers of all time. I think a song like Mordred's Song or And the Story Ends would be delicious for that. But the bands has many anthemic masterpieces (Journey Through the Dark might be my fave, but also Welcome to Dying, Lost in the Twilight Hall, Time What is Time, Curse of Feanor, Nightfall and of course Mirror, Mirror, which might be their most famous song). If you like JRR Tolkien, they're your band. Many songs based on that world (including a full album, Nightfall in Middle-Earth, which is about the Silmarillion) but not only. They became more pompous and "symphonic" since 2001 and they kinda lost me after that but still, one of the Greats of Power Metal. The studio version of Valhalla features Kai Hansen (singer and guitarist of Helloween on Victim of Fate) and it's pretty fantastic.

Hansi live -is- Hansi in his full glory. Valhalla with Kai is nice, but, IMO the best version of the song is the live Imaginations show. Hansi is incredible live, and the fan reactions add a whole new dimension. I have a liking for heavier stuff, so songs like Banish from Sanctuary and Valhalla rank higher for me than the ballads do, but I agree with you on the pompous/symphonic thing. Oldschool BG is the best BG. That said, Demons and Wizards are live about a 90-minute drive away come Aug 20, and I fucking want to be there.

One of the first concerts i went was a blind guardian concert here in Brazil, a singular experience, the mood, the magic in the air, Hensi could leave the mic at home and the crowd would sing every word of every single song. Thank your for reacting to a band which is not known worldwide. Beiing only a consumer of your content, I am happy to help you guys with the translation of the spoken parts, Beginning: Wacken, we like to carry you away. I would like to let you scream more, but we don´t have time left. And in that little time we would like to do some music. I think most of you know what will come next. It has been legendary here in the past. But I think you can do even better today. Between the songs: Wacken, your better than usual. We up here had an amazing time and we alway love to come to Wacken. But now it is time to move on. We may see us again sometime, somewhere. Animating the crowd: Looks nice, sounds nice. I think, Magnus is done working, lets get to Frederik. But to do that, you should sing a little bit louder! Wacken, give all you have! Sing us away from the stage!

However, I just want to mention a guy who told a story in response to another reaction to the same video: He was at Wacken in a year when Blind Guardian did not play. But one day before the concerts started, a video of the Bards' Song was played on the screens of the festival. And most everyone stopped in their tracks, sang the anthem start to finish and then got on with whatever everyone was doing. THAT is a level of humanity-fandom, I struggle to comprehend!

Wacken is usually around 80-82,000 in the crowd (it could be more but the organisers had to limit it at about 80k to avoid overrunning the village too much!) It can also be tricky to get tickets for the festival as they go on sale at midnight on the last night of the concert for the following year and usually all 80,000 sell out within minutes!

When Hansi starts to sing,WACKEN is the greatest Choir worldwide with 90.000 Members!....Blind Guardian are one of the Best German Metal Bands ever. You wonder why we sing English? Our english is definatly better than your german ;) .We learn english with our mother milk and we lay our main emphasis on the lyrics....like Rammstein Fans do it nowerdays worldwide.....a lot of metal fans learn languages by translating foreign lyrics....

It's the first video I saw from you and I liked especially the part after the actual reaction. You two seem very nice and I might watch some other videos... but not all of them. There are simply too many of them. :-)

Heya from Germany 🇩🇪 Blind Guardian is one of my favorite since a long time - but also open minded for something special. So please react to " Dimash Kudaibergen" singing OGNI Pietra from the Arnau Concert on his own channel. This guy has an 6 octave range and he is trained since the age of 5 years old. Never heard a voice like this. I'm pretty sure you will enjoy it. All the best from Germany ☀️ Petra

Hey kel and rich, I'll try to provide some provisional translations. Before the Bard's Song: (First line pretty tough to translate due to audio quality) 'Wacken, are you up for it ?! I'd like you guys to scream a little longer, we don't have a lot of time left though. We want to spare that time with music, for sure. I guess the most of you might know what comes next. It's been legendary sometimes in here (Wacken OA), yet I've got the feeling that you guys might put the icing on the cake today.' Before Valhalla: 'Wacken, I dare to say it, but you're even up to it as usual! We all ( the band) had a great time, yet there is always a time to move on, and this very time ist just now. We will see each other again somewhere.' At the end of the song, right before the crowd "takes over": 'Looks great?! Sounds great?! I'm Magnus and I've worked enough?...We'd like to continue this song but you guys gotta get louder! Cheers, Patrick Setzer University of Würzburg Linguistics Department '

Gute Übersetzung, bis auf den Part mit Markus, das würde ich so übersetzen: Looks great, sounds great, I think Markus has worked enough, now we can bring Freddie into play - You have to sing a little bit louder for this!

Demons and Wizards a band that has the singer from Blind Guardian and the lead guitarist from Iced Earth would be great to react to their first self titled album from 1999. They have already released a music video named Diabolic from their album coming out in February 2020.

a great show of this kind of fan devotion is the Linkin Park show that they did in memory of Chester, they did the beat and instruments only for their song Numb and the crowd sung the ENTIRE song, it's sooooo amazing to listen to, wish I could have been there to sing along
