That's the difference between musicians and non musicians. A musician must play well and perform under even the worst of circumstances. People pay to see you play. If you had the tendency of not performing well, showing up, or getting too fucked up to play, you're not as valuable and you lose income. Not just for yourself, but for your bandmates, roadies, sound check guys, technicians, engineers, managers, lawyers, and you take food out of the mouths of your family. No less impressive I guess, but it's no different than people showing up to work no matter what personal problems one might have. Give credit to yourself and everyone else that shows up for work everyday!
