One of my friends is blind and we went to Paris to sing in a choir together. Whilst we were staying in a student hotel, I saw a bright orange sunset through the window and when I realised what I’d said, it was too late. My friend asked me what orange was and I froze, when I couldn’t describe it i was heartbroken. When describing things to a non-seer, it’s best to describe it to something they can feel. I described orange as the warm sweet taste of the fruit as well as the hot sensation and smell of scented candles. She said she likes the colour orange.

Well last year a new student moved into our school . He was blind from birth. One day I foolishly said that he looks dapper in his red shirt . I mentally kicked myself after saying that. He told me that he had chosen the shirt because of the fabric and fit. He asked me to explain red. After thinking for a bit I told him to close his eyes. He did so that then I flashed torchlight on his eyes. Then I told him to imagine the colour he was seeing with 100x brightness. He smiled and said that he understood the colour red now and also that it gave him a burning sensation. I could've cried in joy.

Sometimes I'll take my glasses off to see things blend into each other, and become soft and unfocused. Trees in the wind, rain on the streets, crowds...I think some of the painters who painted what they saw were only inadvertently painting a genre, in their eyes they were painting true to life and not intentionally stylistically.

I knew a girl who was blind one time. WE both took a walk when we were little and saw a lot of shooting stars. I forgot she was blind and told her WoW there are a lot of shooting stars tonight. She told me I wish I could see and I told her that maybe I could describe it to her. After 20 seconds of trying to describe it to her I started crying. I was crying not because I felt pity or because she was blind but because I could not describe it to her. So i told her give me your hand and I took it. I then pinched her hand softy. I told her that was a shooting star is like. You see it then it magically disappears like the pain of the pinch. I then told her to imagine that all over her body that what a shooting star is like. The girl moved never saw it again but every time I see a shooting star I wonder where she is. Sorry for the long story have a good day today!

Your story reminds me of the Little Prince, when the writer said goodbye to the little prince, the prince told him not to fell sad, but to be happy, because now any star in the sky could be the planet the prince had returned to, and every time the writer looks into the sky he would remember the sound of the prince's laughter like a thousand ringing bells. When the writer looks into a field of golden wheat he would be reminded of the little prince's golden hair, and he would be happy remembering the little prince.

I had a beautiful exchange with a blind stranger once who over heard me and my fiance at the time, now husband talking about our engagement. We were talking pretty loud because we were at a noisey bar and the blind man piped up and said congratulations and asked to feel my ring and if I could describe it to him, he wanted to know how the proposal happened so we proceeded to tell him. Giving detail to such a special event with out being able to just share a photo to tell the story, was a gracious experience trying to paint the picture for him. He smiled and lit up to our attempts at depicting it accurately. It was a new gained perspectice and a conversation I won't forget :) And the man sharing that he just has to smile and enjoy others enjoyment, reminded me of own story.

@@SierraChey117 Uh you don't need to feel their face to know their facial structure you can literally tell a sculptor how a person looks like and they will try their best to sculpt it from their imagination using the details you shared with them. I sometimes sorta go blind from nothing, where everything is faded but i can barely see the center. I never knew why, but eh. Here's what i see when my vision seems to go blank. It's not a dark black color, it's brownish. The center is your only vision. It circles around the center, and slowly moves in. Not much of a fog but of how a television looks like when there's static. (just not white and black) It's smokey. As for the center, where you can sorta see, you cant make out anything. It's blurry, but isnt. It's like going underwater, but alot less clear.

I almost went blind due to an accident I had in p.e class almost 1 year ago in a couple months. I lost my vision for about 30 minutes and when I was laying against the wall in my school gym my mind was rushing. The most important thing in my life is my ability to see the world. I love travelling, seeing different kinds of flowers and animals, seeing different landscapes and everything you can think of. I can look at anything now and be amazed by it purely because I know I almost loved everything that made life incredible to me. Realizing that I could have lost it all terrified me at first. I was scared, so insanely scared. For months I have been emotionally numb because of it. I stopped doing everything I loved, I became isolated again and I just wasn't me. I then decided to say fuck it and took an optimistic view about everything. I ALMOST lost it all, that's why I NEED to enjoy it now. I don't want to live a single day with regret anymore because tomorrow isn't promised and it never will be. I love life now and I want to enjoy every second of it because I don't know when my life will end or if it will ever come close to ending again. I just know I have to enjoy and treasure everything I have now because the future is never promised.

what an awesome experiment, i hope the artist got a little more time to implement features from the descriptions instead of guessing her way through, but its a great idea to give this chance to the people

Thanks for taking the time to do this experiment, and also posting it for us to see.

Even simple things as sight we often overlook but we're never really thankful about simple, yet important things as these. Seeing how happy these people are despite not being physically able to see but still happy makes my me feel happy and thankful for the little things I've been blessed with

There's so much love in those descriptions and the way the sculptor gave them shape. We are literally seeing the image those people have in their loved one's hearts.

I worked as a caregiver for a man that has been blind since birth. I asked him what it's like when he dreams and he said "it's just like when I'm awake". You couldn't get anything past him. He would know what I was doing on the other side of the house from his sense of hearing. He is also the best blues guitar player ive ever met hands down.
