She was the most popular girl in the school but instead of helping Shoko, she laughed along with the bullies and never made any attempt to help Shoko. Even a bully like Ueno at least tried to help Shoko by writing her notes at the beginning. But Kawaii was the only one who made no attempts to redeem herself and acted holier than thou. Whenever there is a chance to confront her mistakes, she blames others without any consideration for their feelings. There is a reason why Sahara was afraid of both Ueno and Kawaii in school (1:31:42). Kawaii is the most selfish person in the group while acting like the kindest person.

Also at that time he hadn't apologized, so I say, all for the best, at least they'll end up together in the end, healing each other and removing each other's burden, Shoyo's plea to Shoko to help him live, and her signed promise to not try and end her life anymore were reassuring enough for me

In the bridge scene (1:57:54), Ishida is actually saying: "I think I'm going to die." So Shouko runs to the bridge and starts crying because she thinks he has died. And he actually did die, he was saying goodbye in the dream. But because of poor translations, the scene is misunderstood and it loses its emotional impact.

Wow, what a great movie. I watched Your Name few hours ago and even though many people will disagree this movie is a masterpiece compared to your name. I never watch anime movies but i'm convinced this movie might be one of the best if not the best movie i have watched. The parallels, dynamics, soundtracks, making you invested in each character, it was just beautiful. Hell, this is probably the only movie i can watch over 10 times without regretting it. Before watching it i thought this would be just some lame romance story where the girl kills herself in the end but i'm glad i was wrong. I don't know how anyone can dislike this movie, it's just 10/10.

Just an interesting note you get from watching a lot of anime: ‘Chan’ is an honorific most often used for girls, but isn’t necessarily all cases. ‘Chan’ is a more “cutesy” honorific you would use for girls, people youre very close with, young children or your juniors. ‘Kun’ is used more for boys, but its a more neutral honorific youd use for people who are more on equal terms with you, like your friends, your classmates, your coworkers, or people you’re familiar with but not particularly close with. ‘San’ is the most casually respectful honorific youd use for people above you, like your parents, your superiors, your boss, your seniors, your role models, or people who you don’t particularly know/just met. The most extreme honorific you can use for someone is ‘Sama’ tho, which, obv youd use for people at the top, like royalty or people/dieties who you worship. The most casually youll hear this honorific tho is calling your parents ‘Sama’, but that case is more exclusive to the upper echelons of society, like rich families and whatnot. Aka: Chan=below you/cute Kun=same level/familiar San=above you/respectful Sama=very top/high class First name/no honorific is when youre REALLY close with someone; like damn near stuck at the hip close. And ig you can say that naming insults would be below ‘Chan’.

Watch the real one and youll notice throughout the movie there is small stuff like this. I saw someone else watching the same version as you. Go watch the real one, youll get better non man hating subtitles. Good news japan is starting to use AI instead of localizers. That means its cheaper & wont make up words that were never in the anime. No more madeup words like mansplaining. The localizers are throwing hissy fits now that they wont be able to butcher japanese culture.😂
