Only that he isn't Sure in Goriosas eyes he were evil, but consider this...when she said she needed more time to pay, he gave her to the end of the month..he didn't need to do that. And it's not like he use some evil plot to force her to sell the land. She was late with payments..probably because he gave her a credit when the banks already said no. But if a business doesn't run for years you have to see what you can change to make it profitable or close shop. And the camp obviously was not profitable in the least.

This kind of confirms something I thought of few days before the episode: Because Graany and Filthy have close business ties, she keeps him in "check" as it were. In human world, she seems to work at the school's cafeteria more than working on a farm and so no business with Filthy to keep him in "check" (who probably does more business than in Eq all over the world and so... you know...)

Filthy Rich definitely had more of an "evil bad guy" feeling to him in Legend of Everfree. But as has been noted in various comments, perhaps in the human world, he didn't cross paths as much with Granny Smith, and thus was left to pursue his greed. I guess I shouldn't be disappointed that there are differences in characters between the two worlds, I just didn't like the idea of one of the few ponies who's rich but actually not a total jerk being turned into a jerk.

Most fans, including me, thought this was going to be a dramatic episode about the death of AJ's parents, and instead it was mostly comedic with no mention of the parents whatsoever. Despite it not being what most of us were expecting, I still consider it to be AJ's best episode of the series, and it is one of the funniest episodes of the season.

Hmm, I hadn't actually gotten to the point of thinking about if this was the best Applejack episode of the series, but I think I'd have to agree that it is. Before this, I would've said The Mane Attraction, but this one was great because I've always known Applejack's true character growth is in the past, and we finally got to see it, plus it was directly related to her element. So yeah, this one was definitely a treat for Applejack and Apple family fans in general. :D

Applegeek Also, I think the flashback actually takes place before Applejack's parents died. The reason being is Filthy and Spoiled aren't married yet. So that means Diamond Tiara hasn't been born. And since Diamond Tiara and Applebloom are around the same age, Applebloom hasn't been born either. So her parents had to be alive at this point, we just didn't see them.

The Rich family in Ponyville has been associated with the Apple family for so long, their good values have rubbed off on Filthy. The Filthy Rich in Equestria Girls is not associated with the Apples, so he is a jerk.

Applebloom might have been in the care of some relatives (the same ones Big Mac was talking about I guess). If the Apple parents were dead at that point, even more reason to. She just came back to the farm when she was old enough. Applebloom CAN be older than Diamond Tiara, if she moved back to the farm at some point. She would be switching school so it would still be like first day.

Yeah, I was confused about the timing as well... considering DT isn't born yet, and Applebloom is about the same age so either a baby or not born yet, and yet the three of them act like they are the only ones at the farm ergo why the teens were sibling-competing on 'who is going to run the farm'...where are the parents?

Yeah, that's just the problem. There was absolutely no hint at the presence of their parents at all, but they would have HAD to be alive in the time frame of that flashback. Either that, or Apple Bloom is somehow adopted like some people theorize, but I firmly reject that idea myself.

AJ's parents WOULD be alive if Applebloom wasn't born yet. In my react I thought they would already be dead since we never saw them in this flashback! But I never thought about Applebloom, thinking it over. They HAD to have been there if AB at that time didn't exist! I assume the logical choice is that the parents are traveling or visiting family (it is possible with how large the Apple Family is). They just we'rent there at SAA during that flashback. 2. Yeah, seems like we came up short in songs somehow this season. Wasn't a single song in any of the last seven episodes (the finale 2-parter included). 9. Realized later he got butthurt. XD 11. ROTFL! I was actually thinking something like that, but couldn't verbalize it quickly enough, and then forgot to put a note in there about it as well. 12. Backstory inception! 13. Which is completely lame, especially considering there wasn't even any of the liquid visible. There was only a jug and glasses, which I guess you could argue looked a bit like a moonshine jug and shot glasses, but still, totally lame reason for banning it.

She may have went to the Hospital to have some surgery done on her eyes.Just What If Derpy had just lost her eye and What If Derpy has a glass eye for the remainder of the whole time which is misaligned thus makes Derpy look that way.Anything is a possibility.

Most of them just say what they assume the show is about since they're too scared of being bullied themselves if they try and watch it. If you like something, LIKE IT. Yeah, as if they words were true, or something to care about.... :q Once I had a dream where there was a witch who could enchant people with just her words. She could make them believe in whatever she said. And she used it to control people. I didn't like that, so I came up to her and told her to stop. But she didn't want to stop. Instead, she said that I should be ashamed of telling an old lady what she should or should not do. It really made me feel ashamed. But then she said that I'm rude. I was very angry about that, and started to yell at her. But then she said that I'm a bad person and I'm ugly. And guess what: I felt like a bad person (because I fit her description) and when I looked at myself in a mirror on a wall, I noticed that I really look ugly from some reason. I realized that she's starting to get under my skin and her enchanting works on me. But I couldn't do anything about it! If she said that I have warts on my hands, I got warts! If she said that my teeth are rotten, they became rotten! :s Pretty quickly I started to resemble a monster, or a troll, much more ugly than her :/ But then something happened: I heard a voice of a girl coming out of nowhere. She said: "Don't listen to her! It's all lies! They become true only when you believe in them! Stop believing and you'll be free!" And so I did. I said to her that I know her tricks and it ain't gonna work on me. She said: "But it does! Look! You look like a monster!" I replied: "I may look like a monster, but I'm not a monster. It's only my imagination." And in this very moment, I started looking normal. The enchantment was gone! She couldn't enchant me anymore because I didn't believe in her words. What's more, I saw that whatever she calls me, it's really her whom that description fits. She was projecting her own deficiencies on other people. It was her who was ugly, insecure, bad person, and covered with warts :q She was projecting these traits on other people to make herself look better than them. I started to pity her. She was just an old bitter woman. And then I woke up. That dream, with all the thoughts I had after waking up from it, changed a lot in my life.

This pretty much has to be before AB is born, right? Think of it this way: Spoiled Milk is still Rich's fiance' in this episode, and DT and the CMC are all right around the same age. Unless MLP is willing to tackle premarital conception (yeah no), then there's no way AB is born yet in this episode.

Now that I think about it, I think Spoiled Rich and Flithy Rich got married cause she was pregnant. Cause in Season 9, it shows a flashback and AJ and Big Mac are younger and AppleBloom is a baby. And assuming AppleBloom and Diamond Tiara are the same age, this wouldn’t make sense.

I would have to say in this episode, though not seen, AJ's parents ARE alive because Apple Bloom and Diamond Tiara go to school together. Since Filthy Rich is only engaged to Spoiled Milk they obviously haven't had their daughter yet, so Apple Bloom hasn't been born yet either.

Another note to make is we see that apple jack doesn't have her hat. So does this mean the hat was her fathers ...or possibly her mothers and giver to her as by them as they passed on or as a gift to her for her birthday on the yr they passed. Its funny that you mention going to an apple farm. Where I live in upstate NY, every year the Goold's Orchards apple farm has their weekend Apple Fest with live entertainment, food, and crafts. Not to mention the fresh baked goods, apple cider, and my favorite apple cider donuts. In fact I went to the festival today with my daughter and boyfriend. If the place you're going has cider donuts, make sure to try them!

I wasn't aware of the fair thing, though I have now seen that clip, very interesting. And yeah, her hat has indeed gotten destroyed and replaced since then. I just always had this idea that her hat, or at least the first one (they all wear out eventually, or perhaps she still has the first one stored away somewhere as a keepsake) was a gift from her parents. I've also seen head canon where Winona was a gift from them as well. Guess we'll never know for sure until they give us the parents' backstory in canon.

I'm back after a long while! this episode is really entertaining, hilarious I would say, a humor centric episode similar to the saddle row review while giving deeper characterization to big Mac, applejack, and even filthy rich and spoiled milk (why not spoiled rotten for a name? it would actually mean a bit better compared to 'milk':/) But really, who knew big Mac ceased to speak much when he used to be such a blabbermouth? granny is a boss that scared filthy to submission and aj might have as well caused damage on granny's hip with the constant bashing. Apple bloom being absent makes sense since filthy and spoiled are still engaged at that point, but we all sure wished we can find out about aj's parents. With a good moral presented, this episode is a wild ride alright, and seeing your reaction made my day! can't wait to see the reactions for upcoming finale episodes!

This was the only episode to have Applejack, Big Macintosh, Applebloom and Granny Smith in there, none of the Mane Six are in there, just Applejack from the Mane Six in solo form. The Spanish dub is pretty darn good, and so does Italian, both sounded as good as it gets, but close to the original. I’ll give both Spanish and Italian dubs an A+.

It was made clear the kids were fighting for control of the farm. So clearly the parents were out of the picture now, kids don't fight for control of the farm with healthy parents alive and around. Applebloom may have been born but maybe the parents already died, and the baby was taken care of by a wet nurse. Sentient ponies would need more than a year on milk, maybe 2, so a newborn would have to be on a wet nurse if the mother is gone.

On the one hand, "Spoiled Milk" made me lol. On the other, I'd expect that a fair amount of bullying would come with a name like that as a little filly. Seriously, parents, wtf? That's basically setting your daughter up to develop a bad attitude. Though it would actually kind of explain a lot about her character and be a pretty plausible depiction of the kind of cycle that can get started with bullying. She gets bullied, then after getting power through dating/marrying Filthy she starts bullying others (including her daughter). Her daughter feels insecure because of her mother's treatment, and being more powerful than her classmates due to her family, she starts bullying them. Seriously, no wonder she took the Rich name when they got married. On the subject of the Rich family, I'm glad that they stayed true to the Filthy Rich that we saw earlier in the series, and didn't just make him the same as his Equestria Girls counterpart or how he's sometimes depicted in the comics. When he first showed up he was a lot like Fancy Pants in that he was an inversion of the typical wealthy snob trope. Rather than being over-the-top rude snobs, both of them actually turned out to be genuinely respectable and mostly nice ponies. So it's good to see that they're still treating him that way - a businessman to the core, yes, but not a jerk by any means. There was also a nice little bit of worldbuilding/fanon confirmation on the side. We've confirmed that changing your family name for marriage is definitely a thing (between the Cakes and Pies I already figured it was, but explicit confirmation always helps). We've confirmed that unicorns can have their horns broken, though we're not sure if they can grow them back. We've seen that Derpy may have attempted some kind of corrective procedure for her eyes, or at least that she had some condition probably related to her eyes. Anyway, we have one more to go before the finale (well...not for me, since I wasn't able to resist watching the leak), so if they can make it through that without another mediocre Applejack episode I think we'll be able to safely say that her stories this season ended on a high note. Certainly a silly one between this and PPOV, but a high one all the same. Also, there seems to be a trend in these last few episodes with the Apples not being able to finish stories that I'd really love to hear. Between Applejack's brief summaries of the family photos in Every Little Thing She Does, Big Mac's stories about why he calls himself "Big" (and wears his yoke) and how he got his cutie mark, and Granny's stories about the Apple Blight, I seriously want to see some kind of "Apple Journal" like the Journal of the Two Sisters/Friendship Journal that actually gives us the rest of those little stories.

You know, on the family name thing, that seems to be more of a thing with Earth ponies, at least from what we've seen so far. Unicorn families that we've seen don't seem to have family names as such. We don't have very many reference points for Pegasi families thus far, only Fluttershy's family, and that's a bit unclear. Yes, Rainbow Dash called them Mr. and Mrs. Shy, but "Fluttershy" has always been one word, and her brother doesn't have "shy" anywhere in his commonly used name, and knowing Rainbow Dash, I almost feel like that could've been her own nickname for them rather than an actual proper name. At least with Earth ponies we see more significant attachments to family names, like Apple, Pie, Cake, and Rich. Of course there are also anomalies even with those, in that Diamond Tiara isn't called a Rich, and many of the members of the Apple family only have apple-related names, as opposed to all using the actual word "apple". TL;DR - Pony names will forever be a mystery. XD

Applegeek I know, right? We've seen married couples whose kids share their names (the Cake family), who take the same surname but whose children don't (the Rich family), who clearly don't take the same surname or pass that surname on to children (Twilight's family). I hesitate to say that it's an issue of race because the only ones we've seen share surnames are earth ponies (as far as I can recall), but then we have the Apple family: Not just earth ponies, but earth ponies who give a lot of importance to family history, traditions, and relationships. Yet plenty of them have mostly different surnames, if they even have them. It definitely isn't the case with their children. Filthy and Spoiled didn't pass on either surname to Diamond Tiara, Shining and Cadance didn't pass on any surname to Flurry Heart, and regardless of what Mr. and Mrs. Shy's names are, either Fluttershy or Zephyr seemingly didn't get a surname passed on. And what do the characters who only have one name do? How do ponies like Spitfire, Cheerilee, or Minuette handle surnames? With Cadance you could at least make the argument that - as a Princess of Equestria - it might be some kind of issue with tradition or etiquette that a princess not take the surname of another family. Or even that it's just some kind of tradition for most royalty in the MLP world not to have more than one name (Celestia, Luna, Cadance, Blueblood, Sombra, Platinum, Chrysalis, Torch, Ember...). Nopony else would really have that excuse though. Honestly, the only thing I can think of that doesn't contradict at least SOME of the examples we've had is that it's really just a personal choice rather than any kind of cultural standard. Then again, an out-of-universe explanation is that it's likely just another case of the fanbase being far more geeky than the writers and looking way, way too far into things, as we tend to do.

You're welcome to disagree with me on this, but I currently look at it as a cultural thing amongst the pony tribes, because I really want there to be a bit more cultural distinction between them. After all, they all used to be bickering with each other over their differences. Just based on what we've seen, Earth ponies seem to have a stronger emphasis on family. Unicorns seem to be a bit less focused on this, seeing as how both Twilight's and Rarity's parents seem to hardly be involved in their lives. I think some of that may come from the fact that a lot of Unicorns go off to magic school at a young age. Not sure what to think about Pegasus families yet, at least in terms of how they differ from Earth ponies and Unicorns, not enough data points yet.
