Maybe try a novella? Or an audiobook read-along as you read a physical book?

The Gathering Dark is, for me, phenomenal. I really enjoyed it--and this is coming from someone who used to hate short story collections. It's a real treat! Hope you enjoy

I’m so glad you’re gonna read red rising! It is one of my absolute favorite series I’ve ever read so far! I’m on the third book and have loved them all so far! I hope you like it! You should also read the assassins blade as close to the first one if possible if not before throne of glass becuse it has a great backstory to the main character.

Hey, I just wanted to let you know that the author of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil is kind of an unethical dude. It's genre is nonfiction, but he shuffled around events, put himself in scenes where he wasn't present, and apparently lied about or dramatized certain things, but then vaguely glosses over it by saying he took artistic liberties. Multiple people in the town had problems with his recounting of events, and his book might as well be like those movies that say: 'based on a true story,' which is essentially a very blurry rendition of what really happened. I couldn't finish the book personally, because I found it kind of gross that this man could casually mess with the lives of real people and make them his 'characters' without any regard for how this would affect them after. Maybe it's a personal thing, but when you say your book is nonfiction I think there is a certain expectation for ethical standards. Some of the 'characters' in the book had already died, so they couldn't have contradicted his depiction of them. It's like how lies are perpetuated when certain celebrities die, like Marilyn Monroe. Whether it's true or not no longer matters because it's almost impossible to reverse that once people start talking about it. The people he's writing about don't necessarily seem like the nicest people, but we could never really know because he's not a trustworthy narrator. Anyway, sorry for writing you a novel, but when I started reading it initially, I just got this weird feeling that some of it was too outrageous to be true, like the people were caricatures. Researching a bit and finding out he was shady really lit a fire under my ass. I don't think he should have been allowed to call that nonfiction, but I think they knew it would sell better if people thought it was totally true. It is what it is, I guess. Also, if you love the book, that's totally fine. I just thought I'd say something in case you care about that sort of thing, too.

😂 to be fair 2 of the books aren't mine lol, but I agree 😅 I'm pretty good at DNFing if I'm not liking a book, but I definitely have some books from before I had really figured out what I like to read that I should probably let go of lol

You chose reread of 50 Shades and The Wishing Game instead of Haunting of Hill House and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. You should trust your husband more. I do hope you won't regret when you finally get to those other books. I loved both of them. BTW, happy birthday, my birthday month twin
