I loved This Is Going to Hurt by Adam Kay! Read it in 2018 and I still recommend it to others. Same story with When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi and Do No Harm by Henry Marsh, loved those too.

thank you! i would say it’s not overly gory but there are descriptions of blood and particularly pregnancy/birth related stuff
