Now that the Crow Mauler was mentioned I want to share something: In an old Frap video of useless facts he pointed a door that opens literally when spawning the Crow Mauler. Not unlock, open. And he joked that is lore that the Mauler himself crossed that door. Turns out he was right at some degree. Inside the room of that door there is a insect that you can interact with and will tell you that "The crow is coming...". So Miro wanted to add an early event in which the Corw Mauler ambushedus in the first rooms but alas didn't made it. Good video, Frap. Waiting for more ;)

There is a problem. If you use red vial in a normal turn, it applies at the end of the turn. If you use red vial on an extra turn, the effect applies at the end of the NEXT turn

Honestly, if blindness was instant and maybe had its accuracy loss upped a little - it might've worked as a status effect. Something maybe for longer fights, something that might work for you in a pickle, yknow. But as it stands, it's almost absolutely useless as a status effect. Good video as usual

the worst mechanic by far is phase step, in every playthrough you have two option when aquiring empty scroll: 1. learn phase step and beat the game. 2. play the game normally. thank god they removed it in termina.

@@An_Entire_Lime Yes, it shouldn't be in the game. Miro forgot to remove it, as well as various developer panels (many of which, by the way, can only be reached with Phase). He needed a tool to make game development easier, which should have been removed at release, but laziness and/or forgetfulness won out.

Blindness is situational, but I still it pretty useful in those cases. I remember this time I played on terror and starvation mode with Enki, where I defeated a Elite Guard using it. My only party member was the Girl, but because I had locust swarm, I could use that myself on the Elite Guard, meaning the Girl threw a red veil at the head while he was stunned. This meant that I could take his limbs off without losing any of mine. I don’t remember if I also prevented getting any bones broken, but that’s pretty a minor status effect anyways. Also, congrats on 100k!

Hey Frap I suggest you to do "God-of -the-Depth-skills-only" challenge run. You have to choose Enki, your task is to kill the God of the Depths because almost everything that happened in the dungeons happened because of him. You have to fight fire with fire so you can only use needle worms, flock of crows and locust swarm skills and vials/darts/priest lamps/etc to deal damage; you can also use non god affinity supportive skils such as fast attack, devour, defence stance, counter-magic, steal, lockpicking, dash(ofc), en garde. In addition, you can make any endings (exept E ofc) or play in hard mode (but remember that in that case you cant recruit ghouls/skeletons and even summon the blood golem). Love your content! P.S. 1. 100K yippie!!! 2. Blindness was a really good status effect to talk about in this scenario for sure. I think the next status to talk about is definitely the status effect confusion/stun. Even though the skip 2 turns effect is really good, there are very minimal ways to access it as a player and when it happens with an enemy it’s usually just… bad… or crazy so it’s super inconsistent in that way. Also you can talk about what I actually think deserves this video, infection.(I’ll explain this in my reply)

Infection is absolutely terrible in both games. Sure, I think that its current applications are interesting. When infected the infected character will die in seven loading screens, cool, okay! But is infection even that lethal at all?? ITS NOT. Quintessential items that you can obtain in the game just cure it immediately. The green herb but more so the Salmonsnake items. When you have a salmonsnake item, you completely forget about infection and this is much worse than the bleeding thing because I would actually care about bleeding. Seven entire loading screens to cure it for me makes it a status effect I never care about and it only exists to kill a new player that one time because they didn’t read the text on the bottom or it just kills you because bad luck, or if you got the guaranteed item then it doesn’t exist anymore??? Infection is just redundant and useless to be in the game at its current state

We know that the game was devised from "what if?" scenarios for what people would do in various situations. I think the Crow Mauler giving you permanent blindness is acceptable because he's an iconic enemy and is designed to be difficult for new players to beat (it's better to just run away!) Having him leave a permanent debuff that basically makes it impossible to truly escape from him really adds to the tension. I understand why the Blindness2 thing works the way it does - it would probably be even more difficult to apply blindness and have it affect every bodypart immediately. Of course, it would be easy to wrap it into a function and just make it take immediate effect when anything gives blindness, so maybe that was just a thing he didn't know how to do at the time.

Meanwhile in Funger 2: Termina, applying blindness is one of the most overpowered strategies in the game. -It still applies at the end of the turn, but enemies in Termina are less threatening individually (though far more numerous), and glass shards are available everywhere instead of just being random drops. -There are also no more certain hit attacks in Termina (with like, 3 exceptions) so it effectively reduces the damage output of physical enemies by 75%. -Limbs are stronger in Termina so they may not be taken out in a single hit, and healing is more common so players can afford to tank one turn of attacks.

I'm 100% sure the more shit status effects and other random things that makes no sense based on how the games combat works are just included cause their basic elements in rpgm and wasn't fully thought all the way through into how that actually makes no sense given the games rpg battles are hugely different then the base rpgm battles which I find weird cause it's easier to just kinda not do them. Like I think it's cool and super fitting for this game that blindness causes ur vision of the game itself to worsen but aside from that it really doesn't belong in this game.

For my experience the worst status effect has been infection. So many monsters and bosses cause infection and I never have green herb when it happens so I HAVE to cut limbs off. Also just bad RNG because I can’t ever seem to find green herb in barrels and stuff.

Hmmm yeah even tho let's say this video series will be more on mechanics which are poorly implemented, in the sense that they do basically nothing or don't spice up the way in which you play. Infection is pretty decent, requires management of the green herbs (there are some guaranteed ones in the game) and salmonsnake soul

I got blindness by the crow mauler while wearing the penance armor. You can't even see the eyes through the armor so idk how the crows could blind my character.
