Crude Sword being named a Crude Sword is more than enough. Its a makeshift weapon prolly made of scrap metal, therefore its not properly tempered or maintained. So its destroyed by the power of THREE souls being placed into it.

Can confirm that the Optimize button will always equip the items that increase the stat total by the greatest value. For example, if item #1 increases one stat by 5 points and item #2 increases all stats by only one point (a total of +6), item #2 will be equipped every single time.
