Yes, it was one of Penny's swords. If I recall correctly, it was Eric who caught the Alice in Wonderland allusions back during Volume 8. It’s refreshing seeing you guys returning to your roots with this amazing show you made your channel banner in the style of. Also Ruby is walking slowly with her head down and lagging behind the others who were speeding up.

The sword was one that Penny made with her Maiden powers during her fight with Cinder in the finale of v8.

Ruby shellshocked at the jade marionette apropos of Penny’s Pinocchio connection. Also the camera directing when Jinxy asked for “enough hope to fill this jar” implies Ruby’s hope used to be Penny. But then symbolically Little appears in the jar, Little then steals for Ruby the jade marionette which is actually Penny’s blade after Little saw how Ruby was drawn to it. And the "Why you Little!"

That was "Human" Penny's sword because of her aura and maiden powers. While the Robot version of Penny was less organic and more technical since it was Atlas made.

the green blade was one of the several penny created with the maiden powers during the final fight with cinder, she had become a real girl so no longer had the robot blades that were part of her old body

The Ever After is a reference to a foundational scene in Volume 1 Chapter 3 The Shining Beacon where Ruby told Blake why she wanted to become a Huntress: "Yang used to read to me every night before bed. Stories of heroes and monsters..." To which Blake cynically replied: "Why is that? Hoping you'II live happily Ever After?"

Another fantastic detail is that the opening song of Volume 7 also foreshadowed RWBY coming here, even mentioning Ever After by name. As well as Blake and Yang not knowing where to turn to on the bridge and realising they had to tell the truth. Here’s the lyrics to the OP Trust Love: “Maybe you'll wake up in a world of charm” “Oh, but what’s here can set you free” “Right now your hopes are shattered” “Just pointless Ever After” “But in time you’ll find, through love, your power just shines” “When you don’t know where to turn to” “Trust love, the truth is there, but sometimes in disguise” “The way’s uncertain but we’re together, moving toward the light"

Ruby's eulogy to Penny was a very sweet one. It makes me hope even more that she finds the sword again in the future and keeps it as a momento. Gone, but not forgotten. And, it’ll be something to help her keep the hope she has now lost. Can't wait for the following Chapters, those are the best!

That like the first thing i start to notice when they got into the "Wonderland", they become the charecter of the story but it suprise to me how other reaction video dont pick that up. If anything i do before start watching season 9 is that read both Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass first, so you know what kind of trouble that they all going to get into....

Alice in Wonderland is public domain which means anyone can use it, it’s just that everything in RWBY is similar but different to our universe.

It’s very saddening to see the other three accidentally heap more doubt, responsibility and guilt onto Ruby without realizing it. She’s been the unshakable and ever optimistic leader for so long, now that she needs someone to lean on the others are missing the little signs and she’s too set on holding it in to give bigger signs

What exactly did anyone do to put more responsibility on Ruby in particular? Hell Weiss even tried to comfort Ruby about Penny but Ruby just brushed it off. That happens throughout this whole Volume. Ruby constantly brushes off anyone’s attempts to help.

It's probably a bit late to even say this, but rewatching even the last few episodes of V8 might've been really good, because this is picking up immediately afterward, and the stakes and tension were very high. Their mental state is a product of that and we're seeing signs of it on Ruby the most.

The comic relief from Weiss I think is as good as it is because she’s so upset and doing these things due to the emotional crisis she’s internally having. I kinda wish Weiss blows up a little telling Ruby it’s how she’s trying to cope while not losing it all, like how she always saw Ruby do.

Little represents the dormouse (note spelling) from Alice In Wonderland. The name of the species is said to have derived from the verb Dormir, "to sleep" (like the root of Dormitory), as a description of the animal's long hibernation period. They technically look more like gerbils than true mice, but I understand the design choice made by CRWBY.

Penny’s blade was the magic form blade she used after becoming Human as the Winter Maiden, she didn’t have her robotic blades anymore. That was one of the few remnants of her blades remaining.

the only stupid thing for people that had to pay for Crunchyroll and are subscribers to Roosterteeth owned show so for people to watch on rooster teeth they had to watch a year later than crunchy roll so why would some people have to pay for another service that owns the product is lame in my honest opinion . However the show is still great and i hope it gets renewed.

Crunchyroll helped financed if not fully financed volume 9 so it’s natural they get exclusivity for a year From what I heard rooster teeth is trying to offer more such as side RWBY content but yeah if you already watched on crunchyroll then no real need to get rooster teeth and vice versa if you just have rooster teeth then waiting a year sucks but that’s what happens with these kinds of deals Blindwave probably already has crunchyroll due to the anime they watch and rooster teeth because of RWBY so doubt any loss there except they might of paid it for a year without truly using it

The comedy in the auction was great. And the eulogy was surprisingly touching. Episode 1 was very lackluster. This is where Volume 9 started to hook me. And thankfully, it will take several weeks until we run into another bad episode (one of only two bad episodes this whole volume).

Episode 1 due to its pacing and being quite pointless on the scale of the whole volume (especially when the time could have been better allocated to later elements that weren't fleshed out enough). Episode 9 because of the reactions to the events of Episode 8.

But when it comes to RWBY, an 80% episode success rate is pretty damn exceptional. I love this volume and can't wait to see the reactions to it.
