It's crazy that the Emperor was *_so close_* to accessing the World Between Worlds and thus becoming an all-powerful god with absolute control over space-time and reality itself *_TWICE_* this season, first in the episode of the same title and now here in the finale. Now that Ezra has destroyed the last remnants of the Lothal Jedi Temple, Palpatine will have to resume his normal, longer path to universal domination via the Empire, at least until he can find another access point to the World Between Worlds or unlock the secrets of the Force in another way. Consequently, this makes these last few battles in Rebels arguably the most significant in Star Wars history.

Correct! This was the best outcome for Thrawn! And I think Ezra will join Thrawn, Eli Vanto and the Chiss to defeat the Gryysks. At least I hope so, it would make the most sense rather than having Thrawn be the villain (even tho he isnt) but Star Wars has a trackrecord of ignoring the comics and novels
@shahrobp2 жыл бұрын
Was he going to kill him? If I remember correctly, he said he wanted to talk to him at LENGTH. Of course, he could have him killed during their conversation. But I don't remember killing Thrawn being his original intent. Anyway you spin it. Thrawn is definitly safer away from the emperor.
@chaost45442 жыл бұрын
I'm wondering, is there some validity to the idea because Ezra and Kanan were completely separated from the doctrine of the Jedi council and they had to figure out the Jedi way on their own was one of the reasons why they were special? This is probably the only Star Wars series where personal attachments enhanced the main characters understanding of the force.
@conallgough46422 жыл бұрын
Luke’s entire character is based on the fact that he rejects the dogmatic view of the Jedi to save his father. Until they invalidated that in the sequels but still.
@dadian8032 жыл бұрын
It should be the way of the Jedi. Have personal attachments but willing to sacrifice yourself like Kanan and Ezra did. What lead others to the dark side is the fear. They want to have everything. Fear of loss, power etc. This is what Luke preached in Legends to the New Jedi Order. It's not bad to marry etc. but not be too selfish. Of course, there are still some who fall to the dark side but I see that as natural. You even have their friends/masters who tries to talk some sense and say let go/entrust the future to the new gen until the other party is far too gone and the only way to stop further harm is to kill them.

considering the canon Thrawn books he is not the big bad people seem to assume from the Rebels show, I highly recommend reading all 6 books or looking up a synopsis. But long story short going by those books Ezra and Thrawn should become buddies after this episode, Thrawn as a character was never actually invested in the ideals of the empire and in book 3 (which ends just before these episodes) Thrawn is already planning on leaving the empire and returning to the Chiss ascendancy before Palpatine can have him killed. Thrawn only joined the empire to gain an alliance against some unknown threat to the Chiss, Ezra is most likely now a unlikely ally for Thrawn helping the Chiss in the intervening years XD

I'm SO invested in the Thrawn/Ezra story. I'm an old-school Thrawn fan, having read the Heir to the Empire series as a kid, and I've (for the most part) really enjoyed the re-canonization of Thrawn in the new novels. I think there's an excellent opportunity for Thrawn's story following the end of this episode. Thrawn is first and foremost a strategist, with no allegiance to the Empire beyond his own sense of honor and his mission given to him by his home world government, the Chiss Ascendancy. The books left off with the Ascendancy being under threat from the Gryssk, and I believe that Thrawn and Ezra's story will be one of foe's turned allies. The Chaos beyond the Outer Rim prevents hyperspace travel without a force-sensitive "Skywalker". Thrawn will have to work with Ezra to get back to the Ascendancy, and Ezra will end up joining the fight against the Gryssk once he puts aside his personal feelings towards Thrawn and decides to do the "Jedi" thing and help fight for good. Truly a wonderful opportunity for character development by both characters.

I never realized how long I've been watching you guys doing reactions, until today. I was watching those reactions from Season 2 on. I was part of the fans of Rebels when it aired, and like Eric pointed out rewatching series is a sign people liked it. I'm pretty sure I've done 3 or 4 rewatches since it aired. My most recent one was after Stranger In A Strange Land aired at the end of January(Did a full chronological rewatch from TPM to BOBF). Doing so not only gave me an appreciation of BOBF, but it also made me realize something. Dave doesn't waste anything. From the Droid episodes of CW, to the Jar Jar episodes, to so called "filler episodes" here in Rebels, it's ALL played into the larger narrative. And I'VE LOVED every minute of it

Fun fact: In those official animated shorts on KZbin (where they reanimate scenes from the movie in somewhat of an anime style, while using the original audio in places, I forget the name) when they animated some Endor scenes, they actually made that bearded guy look even more like Rex, complete with Clone Armor bracers 😃 Its pretty cool

I still remember finishing up clone wars and being hesitant to start this show after my friend told me to watch it but I trusted him and binged the whole series. I fell in love with the show and am so glad to of gotten to watch it and know all the lore because it helped me enjoy even some little things in the new live action Star Wars shows! Truly an underrated series and beautiful journey to of seen your guys reaction to it as well can’t wait for more Star Wars content!

The part that always gets me in this episode and makes me cry or tear up , when Ezra's parents say to him "We love you Ezra" as he destroys the Gateway.. makes me think of my parents even more rip mom and dad i miss you both.. I think of all the times that they used to say that to me "we love you "Fill in my name" I'm sure there's a lot of people out there that miss there parents the same way..

Gonna be weird to not have Blind Wave Rebels reactions anymore. Maybe you guys should start watching Resistance. IT IS NOT AS BAD as everyone thinks, its actually a lot of fun - Also, a little sad fact, Gregor getting shot in the chest in TBB, is a reference to how he dies.

Since this is the last time I get the chance to gush over Palpatine's master planning in both Clone Wars and Rebels, here's another cool tidbit: He first tried to get Ezra to put himself out of the equation by saving Kanan. That failed, but Ezra made a vital mistake. He specifically mentioned he misses his parents. So Palpatine then presents him with this opportunity. He dons his "kind old man" mask and approaches this from a different angle. I fully believe that he genuinely offered him a portal to save both Kanan and his parents. By doing either, he would forever sever the link between Ezra and Kanan/The Ghost crew. So if Ezra took his offer, he'd get what he think he wants/needs but he'll also ultimately play right into Palpy's hands. Very, very Sauron-esque.

You guys are my favorite reactors here on KZbin! I’ve seen you react to tons of movies, ATLA, LOK, and all the Star Wars series. Thought you guys would like to hear, my husband and I recently had a baby and we made her entire nursery Star Wars themed! We have a couple grogu things but mostly all original Star Wars characters. She has cartoon baby versions of Vader, Leah, Boba Fett, Chewy, Ewoks, R2D2, and C3P0. Thanks for being huge Star fans like him and I ❤️

Palpatine has shown in The Clone Wars to be fully capable of Force-choking and telekinetically ragdolling Force-users as powerful as Count Dooku even from across the galaxy on Coruscant, so he was fully capable of killing Ezra with ease under his own power here. My headcanon here is just that he was so angry and disdainful of Ezra for ruining his plans of universal domination *_TWICE_* now, that he felt that Ezra wasn't worthy of death by his hand, and thus left it to his Royal Guards instead.

The best, reason I have ever heard for why the Storm Troopers have such bad aim is that because the "good guys" are surrounded by the force and because storm trooper weapons are mostly energy weapons, the force bends the shots slightly so they always miss.
