Paul Dini has noted that Pamela's sterility was inspired by Denny O'Neil's "Poison Tomorrow." "I picked up on it," Dini remarked. "If her body rejects all infection or outside contamination, her body is a self-contained little hyper-immunity system, so she can't get pregnant." Paul feared that Fox may pull the plug on the episode due to this subject matter. "I thought Fox would never even let me hint at her sterility."

This was an astounding story. A villain walking away from the life and embracing another into sanity. Also the other motives towards Pamela not really done being Ivy and it was very sad that she's made a family in her own sick twisted way. The ending being a twist as well was genuine. Btw, actor/voice-over Richard Moll passed away. More episodes with him as Two Face should be coming soon.

I really love this episode. A horrifying episode but sad at the same time. I always cracked up whenever Grayson said, “Lady. You creeping me out.” Pamela genuinely wanted to have a family but on her own terms. Even Batman is sympathetic at her. I wish Eric and Rick reacted to this episode because of the horror.

It's interesting, in the DC Comics it's established that plant life is part of 'The Green' but mushrooms and fungal life are part of a separate force called 'The Grey' (and animal life is 'The Red'). The Grey has actively been at war with The Green at various points, trying to supplant plant life.

Love this episode! In the end you can see she really did love this life she built, somewhat. This episode has opened the possibility that every time we see Ivy going forward could be a fake, and she is safe away someplace.

I really love this one and it kicks the really strong Season 2 off brilliantly. A fun mystery that's both strangely tragic and deeply creepy in parts. Even now a shiver still runs down my spine when I hear that "... mommy?"

So I’m not sure if this counts as a spoiler or not because it’s never actually brought up in the show but according to a comic set in the DCAU this is the last appearance of the real Pamela Isley. Every appearance of Poison Ivy after this is a clone made to distract people while she settled down somewhere.

A DCAU tie-in comic of the later Batman Adventures (Volume 2) comic series suggests that this is the last appearance of the "real" Poison Ivy and that the revamped version seen in The New Batman Adventures was merely another copy produced to keep Batman off her trail, whilst she went into hiding for good.
@jp3813 Жыл бұрын
Although all of the characters got a revamp, and her revamped version is featured in flashbacks back before Harley even met Joker.

At 9:16 I was minorly traumatized by this scene when I was a kid. Once I heard they had Batman hear the kids, I looked at the TV and out loud said, " Buckle up fellas, this gets intense."

One of only two times that I can pinpoint Jim Cummings being on Batman: The Animated Series; he has a lot of work with WB as Taz but he most definitely spent more time on the Disney side of the ledger, especially with oh so many prominent roles on Disney Afternoon shows. To say nothing of Pooh and Tigger.

What Batman villains have powers? Poison Ivy, Clayface, Killer Croc and Man-Bat? Bane used to count but lately he's given up the Venom cold turkey. I'd say Poison Ivy and Clayface are the most powerful.

Solomon Grundy (superhuman zombie!), Joker (immune to toxins), Mr Freeze (immune to cold and has slowed aging), Ra's al Ghul (slowed aging), Copperhead (demonic snake-like abilities), Deathstroke (healing factor, enhanced physical abilities, enhanced intelligence).

@@finh8895 I forgot about Bat-Mite, he'd be easily the most powerful lol
@SonOfEire3 Жыл бұрын
@@Rocket1377 I thought about Mr. Freeze and the Joker but their "powers" didn't feel quite the same as real superpowers in the more obvious sense but I take your point lol Solomon Grundy and Deathstroke aren't really strictly Batman Villains if anything Solomon is a Justice Society villain and Deathstroke is for the Titans, tho I know both have fought Batman too

BTAS Ivy has no actual powers, she can’t telepathically control plants like most versions of the character she is just very very good at growing and manipulating them.

Another villain redemption episode turns into Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Annoyingly like Doctor Doom, from now on every time Ivy seemingly dies or gets caught it's a plant duplicate taking orders from the real thing.
