Silver is kinda like the original Hawk. He was a coward in the flashbacks but in Karate Kid 3 he became a badass villain. Sometime after the military he "flipped the script". Also they both have the hair thing going on... Mohawk/ponytail

I might be diving a little too deep into this, but it’s fun anyway, it seems to me that, from a post traumatic stress disorder point of view, Terry Silver is really messed up. The 1985 version of Silver seems to be the embodiment of the ponytail character. This reminds me of Norman Bates, the character from psycho, who could not handle the fact that he caused his own mothers death, so he gave her half of his life where he began to dress like her and talk like her. Terry really is a psycho because It is as if he gave his personality over to “Ponytail” as well as wearing a ponytail because he could never get over the fact that he caused the death of “Ponytail” Terry Silver always felt like a caricature, but now it totally makes sense why he would be a caricature
