+Maximiliam Andersson how do you go about recording your covers mate? do you record multiple takes of the audio? Or is audio and video just done together in one take? Cheers!

I usually shoot two takes so that if there's some technology issues, I'm not screwed. There are a few times where I've 'cut' things from the other take because of a microphone cable going bad and giving a weird cracky signal. So yeah, always recording audio+video, as 2x one-shots, then pick the best one once I can review them!

I've been a drummer for 10 years now and even studied it for a short while in college, so I can always appreciate a man with such composure and technique playing such a tricky song like this one! And the first time I heard this song, I didn't think I could ever learn Travis' ending!! Not only did you nail this entire cover, but you transcribed the part as well, right down to a T. Kudos dude.You've helped myself, as well as hundreds-thousands of other drummers out there develop through this and some of us are pretty experienced as it is. The only thing that bummed me out was that I didn't see the energy I expected you to have for this song -- I was hoping to see your hair hitting the kick drum after the two fills following the bridge during the third chorus dude!! Seriously though, keep up the fantastic work. You've definitely earned a permanent sub and fan. Cheers!

I was considering doing it when it was released, but really didn't like the choruses at all, so I skipped! I don't think I'll be doing it - but might just do the first verse at some point, because it's really cool :)

Even if you took the time to just transcribe it, I'd probably be the first to download it. Btw, love that you write out what you're playing and publicly share it. It shows not only your desire to help other drummers, but it shows that you truly know what you're doing and further solidifies your already apparent amount of skill.Honestly though, I'll probably just go into the video settings and knock the song down to half-speed and learn it that way Keep rockin' in the free world man!

Oh and one more thing, just for technical purposes, because it doesn't really change much, I'm pretty sure Travis plays the rim of the rack tom instead of the snare in the second verse. I think it's mainly for added contrast between the snare strokes and the rim strokes because you take away the distant resonance of the snares from playing its rim as well as adding some extra beef to the rim strokes by playing the rack tom. Merely just an observation though. Also, you missed a couple tom strokes on the build-up to the second chorus ;)
