Tom loves Alkaline Trio. He's the one that made them an opener for them on tour. He's also admitted to rewriting multiple songs for TOYPAJ because Matt's writing was just so good. They've been friends for decades. Mainstream fans pitted them against each other because they just don't know punk music.

@@Penguator432 california and nine were both made to represent hoppus. He took full control of blink. Why? Because hoppus is the only original standing member of blink. However all of california and nine is a more mature album then anything blink has made. Sorry that you expect them to do music from 20 years ago, but bands evolve. And the new album with tom will have strong roots towards cali and 9. Because hoppus owns the band now.

This song was written like an OG blink song. Tom fits it well. I tip the hat to blink. When Matt joined I lost interest honestly (just wasn’t the same to me). But since Tom came back, I’ve been checking out the Skiba era and holy shit some of it are some true blink songs. Some set up that in toms return, he’d fit right back into it.

Tom acted pretty childish for the first year or so after he was out of the band but to his and Matt’s credit neither of them ever had anything bad to say about each other. Tom is back where he belongs but that good will has continued and you really love to see it. No matter what we may think of the quality of output of the Matt era he deserves to be commended for the job he did and he should be celebrated.

What I think is that generally tom was a little bit bored by always playing the same songs with blink and I think that was one of the reasons why he left blink. He was always searching for new challenges such as ava and the to the stars stuff. And I think he really enjoys the songs matt wrote, because it is a new challenge for him and he tries to make the songs as good as he can.
