I remember hanging out in a record store as a high schooler and examining All Killer No Filler, which I must have heard something about to have bothered even looking at. I lived in a tiny, rural village and was probably the only quasi-punk guy there, so there wasn't any buzz in my life about bands like this. As I was looking at the back of the case, some maybe mid-20s guy came by and said "dude, you have to get that. That's the best album I've heard in years" and talked me into buying it (which was a fairly big deal for me to buy a new album, I had to buy almost all used CDs in those days). He was totally right. It was literally all killer, no filler. Listened to it hundreds of times.

I always thought sum 41 was a little different to blink 182. They had a few iconic pop punk skater songs but most was pop metal if that's a thing. Blink especially the albums up to dude ranch was punk and then turned more pop punk with emena of the state. Green day was alternative punk rock again completely different. Never had a connection between the 3 bands. The only connection was that they were huge in the 2000s
@lucine71013 жыл бұрын
yeah their sounds are different but its funny because people that listen to one most likely listen to all of them, so they kinda got lumped because of their time period

@@MNH2302 listen to Alkaline Trio mate
@MNH23024 жыл бұрын
I have. I like some of their stuff. I own a couple of their records. He literally ruined his ability to play guitar by doing so much drugs( He actually said that to me). Alkaline Trio is not hard to play at all. Dan the bass player plays lead guitar whenever they do acoustic performances. I can only assume he played them on the record. Now you can still like Matt. Nobody can take that away from you, but Tom is significantly better from a skill stand point. People argue that he was terrible during 2009-2014 live. Which I would agree with that statement. However I would take drunk/high Tom Delonge 10 out of 10 times before I would take Matt. Matt still has to read the lyrics off of a teleprompter because he can't remember the lyrics because he destroyed his brain on drugs( he told me). So yeah, I would take the guy with the reading ability above a preschool level because Matt still gets the lyrics wrong live.
@nalexg5134 жыл бұрын
@@MNH2302 damn you really hate skiba... like even if he sucks and cant remember lyrics you still went out of your way to express that in a very negative manor. what did he do to you?
@MNH23024 жыл бұрын
@@nalexg513 I don't see how I am being overly negative by simply stating what Matt Skiba himself told me. I am simply pointing out that people pay a very large amount of money to go and see blink-182 live. The fact that he can't physically remember how to play guitar or the lyrics is downright unacceptable. There is a difference between being a fill- in and a replacement. When I was younger I attended a play in which one of the lead actors got hurt the day of the performance. A fill- in actor was brought in and he read off of the script. I had no problem with this due to the circumstances surrounding his performance. It becomes a problem when you have been playing the same songs for several years and you still have to read off of a script. If you physically can't remember how to play you shouldn't be performing. Not only are you making yourself look really bad, you are making your bandmates look bad as well. Additionally the most recent blink-182 record required 22 songwriters to complete. That is more than most pop acts. Can they really not write anything since Tom left? Now of course most records have more songwriters than just the band. In most instances the producer of the record has a large influence in songwriting. But 22 songwriters is significantly more than the band and a producer. Matt has also been caught playing to a track either late last year or early this year. Guitar and Tom Delonge's vocals were being piped in during their performance. Mark and Travis did not have anything piped in. Call me cynical if you like, but I still have standards when it comes to a live performance.
