I just bought one of these after watching your video! Im just curious if you know, if when you have batteries in the camera to be used as a backup in case the sun is not shining for a bit (NE Ohio winters), does the camera use the external power first or does it use the batteries in the camera? The reason I ask is if I have no battery in the camera, the app says it's connected to external power, but when I put batteries in it, it says "Battery OK", but doesn't say external battery any longer?

not sure been just running the panel no batteries in camera and havent had an issue with the battery in solar panel dying yet

So how about charging in up for a few days with out the camera. then plug the camera in and block the charger to see how long the battery last? Any one that can operate soldering iron can replace that battery guys.

The internal battery is not replaceable making this solar panel a disposable item because its lifespan is determined by the life of the internal battery. In other words, once the internal rechargeable battery dies, in my case 10 months, you'll have to throw away the panel and either buy a new one or go back to changing the camera batteries every 6 months or so. I've researched this and some geeks say that the rare battery (INR18650 2500mAh 3.7) can be replaced but it requires some experience. I looked up the battery and it costs just as much or more than a whole new solar panel! For the 10 months of use that I got from this solar panel, it would've been far cheaper to just replace the batteries. Now I have to undue all the installation to take down the panel and go back to the batteries. Waist of time and money.

I agree. Panel died on is after about 9 months and can not replace batteries. Worked great untill now. Now is worthless. Forced to go into trash.

Mine lasted a little over a year - where did you find the replacement battery? Did you find a different one were you can replace the battery?

@@cindybesand2064 I found the battery on amazon but I didn't buy it because it was to expensive. I later saw a geek's post that he got the battery for just a few dollars. I don't know where. Good luck!
