Am I correct that even without a subscription, it is possible to access your cameras (or doorbell) and see both live and recent recordings via the app remotely?

Yes, as long as you're saving the recordings to the Sync module 2 to physical storage (a USB drive) you can view the files remotely over the internet as well as the live feed from the camera.

@@ReviewedByPhil I've seutp a video doorbell and 2 blink 4 cameras and all works well except I have not gotten ANY notifications on my iPhone. I can play events (from Cloud at the moment as I have the free trial) and get to the live view but not notifications. I think it may relate to the strength of the sync module to camera signal but that is just a guess.

Great video !! Any idea where I can buy a brick extender? It enables you to mount the doorbell just flush with the brick on my condo.. Thanks..

There are a number of alternative mounts you can get for this doorbell, like this one: geni.us/H9SPYf0 [Amazon Affiliate Product Link] which lets you tilt and swivel the doorbell to change its angle as well as extending it a bit from the mounted surface.

So ur saying u don't need a subscription if u get the module 2. Just have a USB storage drive.

That local storage thingy doesn't work, at least for the Blink Outdoor 4 cameras. I did not try with doorbell though.

@gregoryburkhead7813 Yes, per the Sync Module 2 FAQ on Blink's website: "When you plug in a USB flash drive, the Sync Module 2 stores clips to the drive in two different ways: *Cloud storage:* With a Blink Subscription‍, a once-daily clip backup is saved to the USB flash drive. Backup clips are not viewable in the app. *Local storage:* When there is no active subscription, the Sync Module 2 is used for saving clips to a USB flash drive. Clips from eligible cameras are saved directly to the USB drive when a clip is made. Clips that have been saved to local storage are viewable in the clip list. Only the _Blink Outdoor 4, Wired Floodlight, Video Doorbell, Outdoor, Indoor (3rd Gen), and Mini cameras_ are eligible for Local Storage, but all Blink cameras may be part of a Sync Module 2 system. Blink XT2, XT, and Indoor (gen 1) cameras only use the 7200 seconds of free cloud storage. Local Storage is not available for these cameras. Click to learn more about Sync Module 2 Storage Options‍." @randombiker8002 It depends on which version of the module you have. According to Blink, it should work for Blink Outdoor 4 cameras. Also, I found that not all USB thumb drives are compatible with the unit, I had to try several different ones before I found one that it would save footage to 🤷‍♂️

@@ReviewedByPhil I spent a lot of time on this. I have sync module 2 and a few blink Outdoor 4 cameras. No matter which usb i use (and i have tried four), it never stores motion videos locally. It works good with the cloud plan though. So if you are counting on storing locally know that it does not work. You will need to pay for the plan.
