263 wins, 6 draws, 8 losses for GMHikaru to reach 3000 rating. Seems pretty damn good to me. Even AlphaZero and StockFish couldn't improve much on that count. In fact, I wonder how they would have done. I think also it is clear Hikaru could have done a bit better than he did but he was not willing to concentrate fully on his weaker opponents, etc, which probably cost him a few points.

Unfortunately chess AI are now far better than even the best human players, AlphaZero and StockFish can probably 100-0 Hikaru and they'll probably get to 3000 without a single loss, possibly even without a draw.

nah cause if you recapture the pawn with your bishop to attack his other knight and pawn by the right rook, you lose your knight on h6 from the bishop-queen battery. the bishop was holding it there

At that point it's hard to find opponents.. He played Bortnyk who is a solid 2900 but when Bortnyk started slipping in the 2800s he quit and finding another player as good wasn't possible so he had to settle for the 2700
