I used to play "Pacifist Chess", where any piece captured is immediately re-patriated to Boardland, on any square you wish, with the exception that white-controlling and black-controlling bishops must be placed on the appropriate color square. Obviously, the object is to collect the opponent's forces some distance from their king, leading to a quick checkmate. Other tactical situations arise as well, where you can replace a piece at a great disadvantage to your opponent. Pawns cannot be placed on the first rank, and you don't want to put them on the eighth!

Both of you are judging it through the lens of a Chess Mod rather than an independent game. *That's fine, I'm not trying to be toxic or put anyone down* - I just have a different criteria than both of you. I look for different things and some of the things you may enjoy are things I don't find a good inclusion. And, IMO, The core "Chess" gameplay was a mistake, which overall makes me NOT recommend it. I think at 22:00 the best move was Kh8. -If Ng5 you play h6 which will lose a rook, knight, and pawn due to Nxf7 but Qb8 after wins. -If Ne5 Qb8 with the same tactic of infiltrating on Qb3 after Bd7. Also in either case, they can't take the bishop due to the same idea of Qb3 anyway. Opponent got super greedy though. Not realizing the queen was worth more. Well played.
