Chad really does deserve a gold jacket, it’s a team sport and he lived for this down under team in Cincinnati, Best celebrations in the league ever hands down, and a prolific route runner, probably ONLY topped by rices feet, and he has the yardage. The guy made football in Cincinnati and in general fun
@gatienlaurol579322 күн бұрын
I disagree- I think if he had one more pro bowl and one more all-pro, he’d be in. Chad Johnson was awesome to watch and def one of the best pure route runners ever. If he had his head on straight the entirety of his career, he’d have way more receiving yards (receivers with route running skills always have the best longevity). But he essentially stopped being a productive receiver after 32. Also didn’t help that he didn’t play well with Tom Brady throwing him the ball and his disaster with the Dolphins. Just my honest opinion.
@articat56822 күн бұрын
@@gatienlaurol5793 I get what you’re saying but you said your self, best route runner basically ever, he’s got the yards and the pro bowls, it’s a team sport and it isn’t his fault in his prime the bengals had a no name defense that couldn’t put them back on the field,
@gatienlaurol579322 күн бұрын
@@articat568 I don’t think that’s a compelling argument considering that he basically flamed out with the GOAT throwing him the ball. I like Chad Johnson (seriously, I do). But I really think if he had one or two more 1,000 yard seasons (and less of a class clown) he would be in the conversation.
@milesbachelor874722 күн бұрын
He had the talent and skill, but unfortunately was part of the Bengals’ 31-year drought without a playoff win.
@grindtimetv858321 күн бұрын
Y’all give Jerry too much credit. He was amazing. In his time when DBs were allowed to be starters running 4.6 40s. Jerry didn’t have the ray Lewis led defenses to get in the way. Chad didn’t have 2 HoF QBs back to back throwing him the ball in HIS prime. Chad didn’t have an All Pro defense to back them up when they had the lead. Shit even old rice had help when he made it to his last superbowl with the raiders. Again Rice IS the GOAT. He even whooped on prime a bit. But Chad def had some things Jerry didn’t. Speed aside. His feet were indeed sweeter. Jerry (superb route runner) also benefited being a bigger body and target than Chad, at a time the avg corner was like 5’9. Jerry was 6’2😂

Chad Johnson was emerged as one of the NFL's most productive wide receivers of the 2000s and owns nearly every Bengals receiving record. He was a 6-time Pro Bowler with the Bengals. He was also known as OchoCinco, which stands for 85. He only played 11 seasons in the league.🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈

Chad sure made it fun to be a young Bengals fan back when I was a little kid getting into football in 2004-05. Hope he gets his place in Canton. I will never forget when he gave me a ball in the tunnel in Buffalo back in 07, I was there with my dad in the only Bengals jersey in a sea of Bills fans, was yelling to him and he 'finger rolled' it right to me walking into the locker room after warmups. Forever a fan of #85.

I got to play Modern Warfare 2 with Chad while I was in college (arranged via Twitter), we chatted via voice chat and he was super into the game and winning every single match... really awesome guy, I will cherish that memory for the rest of my life. Rather than try to kiss his ass on the voicechat I just treated him like one of my buddies and he really appreciated that I do think. I didn't tell anyone we were playing against who he was, either (MW2 at the time did not allow for private party chats during that so everyone was chatting with everyone voice-wise).

Chad competed against the hardest era of his position and dbs and Lbs ..look up top 20 record holders in 3 major categories at receiving, only 3 or 4 HOF retired before he got drafted. All top 20 dbs for pass defended record and top 20 record holder for tackles played during his era. Not to mention this was before they watered down defense changed some rules to favor the offense side. Nowadays Cooper Kupp and Tyreek hill running down the field thinking they get 200yds, Chad Johnson had to figure out how not to get killed on the field.

EIGHT FIVE not 85. It is a statement not a word. I know I can't argue with a video or them back almost 20 years ago but FFS he made it clear enough. 8 is Ocho 5 is Cinco. Man is and and was brilliance and TBH i lost all respect and love for what Marvin did to him. I couldn't be excited for a team that chose to snuff out their best asset. Even for the play off appearances and the wins he helped us get. If he had let them fly when they were hot who knows what they could have done. But he decided to project his cool and collected persona on the team and it never did anything again. Palmer was gone. Ocho was muzzled. Man could have been the best ever. Bengals might have been the best ever right there with him. For a while this is what made the Bengals all they ever were, garbage. They been doing better and I am proud of them and this team these days. But cannot forgive Marvin ever. Great video Blitz.

Chad deserves to be in the HOF based on impact. He was an impactful player who will remembered for his game. I'm sick of everyone thinking the HOF is all about rings and accolades. Even in basketball, I think a guy like Robert Horry deserves to be in because he was undeniably impactful to every chip he won. IDC that he wasn't a generation talent.
