Most Ramones is 50s rock sped up and distorted. That is in no way a criticism. The Ramones have been my favorite band since i was a teen in the 80s.
@LetsGoMetsGo334 жыл бұрын
I realized the same thing in reverse watching the Buddy Holly movie with Gary Busey when I was I kid. In the live scenes, I realized that music was punk, it was the Ramones, but not distorted or necessarily as fast. Love Buddy Holly! Ramones did cover Buddy's touring partner, Richie Valens, when they did "c'mon lets go" with the Paley Bros on the Rock N' Roll HS soundtrack.

Jonesy is also playing open chords (opposed to Johnny's barr) which gives it a Buddy feel - esp on the final E. Ramones played on the 7th fret. Here, the open E is being played (an octave lower).

Burn into the mind of any real punk the lyrics of Blitzkreig Bop. Literally, I paid money for that vinyl in 1976 and people were showing up in droves to make a copy or just borrow it. It is holy punk ground. Notes? Please.

Dee Donner Ramone - im not mad at him. He's 63! He's got enough songs to remember of his own.. at least he made notes, he could've just said screw it or did a different song. Some ppl are just too particular, & they can't do it any better

@@ramonesfan4643 That's just stupid! Nobody remembers all the words to every song that came out in their teens. Since Billy has been writing & singing songs for almost 40 years, i don't expect him to remember words to other people's songs bc he has to remember his own & he's got alot of them!

Billy Idol always was a poser. He made all the dough with his second rate stuff, while the Ramones had to work their asses off for 22 years. That sums up the bullshit of this world.
@gmantramp404 Жыл бұрын
1stGenX album has more edgy rock n roll on it than Ramones debut album That's for sure 🤘🤘🤘
@jasontimperley9199 Жыл бұрын
@@gmantramp404 you are embarrassing yourself with your ludicrous claim. The Ramones first album was utterly original and changed the landscape of rock n roll. Gen X was a bunch of New Wave wannabes ( exemplified by Billy Idol failing to sing the correct lyric on Blitzkrieg Bop, a sang everyone of my generation knows backwards). The Ramones have endured more than 25 years since they played their last gig. Nobody is interested in Gen X. Their contribution to rock n roll history is negligible. I saw The Ramones twice. They were the most powerful and blistering rock n roll band I have ever seen, bar none.
@matturner68902 жыл бұрын
Billy Idol has a cheat sheet and still got the lyrics wrong to an extremely well-known song with about 8 lines. Also it's a sin to play the guitar part without downstrokes. too old/10, time to retire
