I don't know if you noticed, but the archers you didn't take aren't tired this round. That means that, when you get to six squads, you could do two islands per cycle by sending only three squads to each.

My method for fighting brutes (giants) was to just find a stairwell or other choke point and place veteran pikemen as the pikemen hold off the brutes and knock them down without allowing for easy retaliation by the brutes. Countered by brute archers/literally any unit with even the slightest bit of range.

GG. I don't think you have to follow the lines on the map when choosing your next island. You can pick any island that is white. What the lines show are what island will be opened next when you successfully complete one.
