Well that did indeed contribute to the problem. He was an empty skateboard, so naturally he had no weight to help him out, and the slight uphill gradient combined with ice under packed snow made it truly an impossible task that one would not see as that until they were stuck. I did my best to offer help when I could (Though that was edited out as no one needed to hear me or see me climbing out there)

Well in all truth, it is a miscalculation that any of us could make. He thought that he could do a pull up and back in easily. He didn't count on the fact of the snow packing behind the tires to prevent him from backing up as it was so deep, and did not know that he was backing slightly uphill, or that there was ice under the snow. In all honesty he was the third truck to make that mistake, but the only one that got truly stuck.

did he have any weight on the drive axels

Well the issue was not so much the snow, as the fact that there was over an inch thick of glazed packed ice underneith that snow cover. Even digging out would have done no good as he really started melting a hole down into the ice cover under the snow, which put him in a rut, and end of game!

don't you trucker guys carry a snow shovel with you in this weather? just wondering why he didn't clear the tracks behind the driven wheels. no snow = traction
