I'm glad they have plenty of keys to just throw about for you guys. but blizzard pisses me off with that shit, Ive been playing since vanilla and have opted into every beta to no avail. Yet they seem more than happy to just pull beta keys out of their ass for content creators. I miss exploring a world which is largely indifferent to me if not overtly hostile. Not being made the centre of attention all the time, not being brought in for high level diplomatic talks between leaders of nations or for an audience with a god who makes sure I have the right shield. I don't want to be some destiny-fulfilling hero, I just want to go on an adventure with my friends. It's one of the really unique things that WoW used to do so well.

@TheAstrius No sir, I did not play vanilla WOW. I was in the military (Army) and we were focused on deployment, didn't have much of a chance to play any games like this. I did play on Nostralius as well as a couple other ones which is as close as I'll ever get! The ganking was REAL....walking to the next spot, ganked 10 times. Especially Arathi Highlands. I was getting ganked nonstop and shit was just nuts...it was beyond rough. I personally prefer WotLK but that's just me :P (been playing on Warmane's WotLK servers for a while now).

@TheAstrius I agree that TBC was freaking amazing! The bosses were awesome, content was fun and engaging. I've got a toon on a BC server but the guild disbanded and all my friends stopped playing....another lost Legacy server :( gotta love ganking enemies! Was taking down some people on WotLK last night and they were pissed. Logged onto a toon so they could whisper me and told me to leave them alone so they could level in peace...I laughed. Those people just need to move to PVE servers and be done with it.

I've read the book and I still think the way the story is going is the real shitshow. Sylvanas is simply becoming Garrosh 2.0 and that is recycling old plots, reinforcing old prejudices, and creating a really toxic environment for players. This is not "shades of grey" as they claim, it's pure black and white and Sylvanas has become a mustache-twisting, maniacal cookie-cutter villain. Going back to the Alliance-Horde conflict is lazy writing. After facing so many world-ending threats more or less together, both factions should realize that some compromise could be reached. Even if leaders insisted on being stupid, by this point our characters are so strong that they can walk in to throne rooms, call out their idiocy, leave and found a third faction for the non-morons. But character agency is not a thing in this game, so we're stuck with what we're given, running errands for bastards until the next world-ending evil shows up.;

I agree blizzard needs a reset expansion and this might be blasphemy but get rid of the factions and have peace. Now what they can do is guild vs guild pvp. IDK how that will transition and fit in lore. Also that expansion should focus more on guild halls and maybe professions and life skills. Add a new mix of gameplay instead of dungeon and raiding.

11:09 I don't usually disagree with bell flat out but this right here is just a stinking lie, it is not hard to tell a story in an MMO. Arthas or the Lich King was all over northrend during that expansion. He showed up in little questlines in every Zone. A part of the reason why people liked that expansion so much was that the big villain wasn't some nebulous things that happened at the end but he was constantly in your face thwarting your efforts in every place.

We get so many experts in this comment section, I'm surprised Blizzard hasn't offered jobs already. Arthas was liked because of the RTS, we grew up with that. Wrath of the Lich King had terrible story telling and literally no cinematics or books to carry it with. People liked it because it was nostalgic. Go see and search what a shit show it was, specially the way ToC was released along with the infamous LFD

Jorge Tinoco are you serious?! Every zone had a well structured story. You have not seen it again until Legion. All other expansions were mostly random unlinked quest clusters. Personally I don't agree with books. I preferred when lore was in game including in game books. And you always have book lore clashing with in game lore for many reasons.
@andr33zyu

That might have been the case back then, but in these changing times and the fight for relevance, that formula is only a favor to nostalgia and won't have the same effect ever again.

Andrew nothing to do with Nostalgia. They were history arches that have not been closed. Warcraft 3 left 2 cliffhangers that Vanilla did not address. I'm alliance but I think sylvanas being set as the villain is lazy and bad writing. What did they just copy-paste Garosh plot? It's bad for both horde and alliance, because they make the horde stupid following evil Leader and commiting crimes, they start a war that ends up in the Invasion of their cities and look totally stupid for that. The alliance keeps getting crap from the horde. In the end they have to shut up and swallow it and go back to (we forgive you, let's be friends again) It's absurd for both sides. Horde players don't want to be evil. Alliance Players don't want to be stupid.

As someone who primarily plays alliance, I'm not too thrilled with the moves they've been making in the lore. Sure, some of it is in Chronicles, but that's official lore, and it is coming out during this run-up to BFA, so I consider it part of the package. I don't approve of the compartmentalization of what faction did what when it comes to dungeons and raids. It sets a bad precedence in retroactive continuity, in my opinion. Regardless of what side of the aisle you are on, there's a strong chance that something from core content that one of your characters did has now officially not happened, which can be immersion breaking for those in the roleplaying community. On top of that, though, having also been a horde player in my time (it's amazing how much one can get up to when one has been playing since vanilla), I just have a visceral reaction to Sylvanas. I can't respect her as Warchief. I can't _follow_ her as Warchief. She's guilty of murdering her own citizens on flimsy, paranoid pretenses, and there's the burning of Teldrassil. These kinds of actions really kill their credibility when they are trying to make vague comments about the horde and the alliance having both done bad things. It just doesn't fly. I'm in the camp that Sylvanas doesn't represent the horde at its best. The horde is not inherently evil, and that is why the trend has been toward cooperation in a lot of the recent expansions. We've (in lore) had less and less reason to be at war with one another, and the only reason the conflict has been kicked into overdrive in recent expansions is that they've stuck a bloody psychopath in the Warchief seat. At this point, they're going to have to pull off a proper miracle to redeem Sylvanas, or we're just going to have to kill her. I don't think that a satisfying redemption is possible. I really don't. She's done too much and gone too far. Even if they reveal that she was controlled by an old god's influence this whole time, I'm still going to vote to stab her in the head.

Teros far from ideal, but Saurfang seems to be setting up to be the representative of the "true"/ideal horde. I'm not saying that he's someone I'm rooting for necessarily, just that they seem to be laying groundwork so that he could step into that role. Let's just hope they don't try to shoehorn Thrall into that role. That... would not go well.
@Drake844221
@Drake844221 6 жыл бұрын
I was just thinking that they'd already pulled that in MoP... I mean they could get a different spin on it... but yeah, it's a corner one way or another. They haven't left themselves a lot of good narrative options to work with. Of course, there's always the option of a bad narrative option, right?

If Blizzard wanted to go in a direction that ends with something actually working out for peace between the Horde and the Alliance, Baine is the best living leader for that. He's always been a proponent for peaceful relations, and has actually had a friendship with Anduin. If this xpac ends with Sylvanas out of the Warchief seat, I'll be pissed if Baine isn't put in it, at least without a damn good reason. And I don't even play anymore.

Just a thought - I think separating the continents and quests for factions it makes the world feel more mysterious and expansive... because most players likely won’t go through a lot of the opposite faction’s story lines and even some areas. Leaving some of the content purposefully unexplored will make it feel larger imo

wtfwhoisthisguy, don't say "for the majority of people" say "for me" because that's really what's going on here. At the beginning wow wasn't even about the big bads, "endgame content" wasn't even a thing we talked about let alone expected. it was about exploring and experiencing the world of Azeroth, a world where the Alliance are pricks and the Horde are angry. And if you ended up looking like a badass when you were done, so be it. The thing is, they set it up with a subscription, rather than a one time purchase, which forced the company to keep building the game, creating "endgame content" to keep players engaged and their wallets open.

The sad thing is that multimedia is what they seem to be good at now. Overwatch has a lot of its lore outside the game as there's really no story in the game itself but just salty people getting assblasted in the game nowadays. Paladins and LoL do the same thing to an extent. Paladins really doesn't have much lore other than some war or something and that explains why the characters are shooting at each other and LoL retconned out all its lore because of poor writing and because of updates that are aging the characters and so the lore had to be adjusted. Ahri's story got a huge overhaul and the former made players question what the hell is Ahri.

Well, that's nothing new. That debate, at least, has been going on since Vanilla. "Shamans are OP because I heard from my cousin's sister's friend that he got triple windfuried in AB one time!" "Alliance raiding is ez-mode because BoK is way better than anything Horde has!" "Horde gets a flight path right by Scarlet Monastery, Blizzard obviously likes Horde better!" "Alliance Onyxia quest is just watching Bolvar fight 4 Ony Warders and then they hand you your key!" (To be fair, the Horde side Ony chain actually is exponentially more miserable than the Ally side, although finding groups for Jailbreak! was harder than finding groups for Test of Skulls, so I don't really know who wins there). The reality is that Blizzard hates Horde and Alliance, and that's why they created LFG and CRZ and why they made leveling so fast that you never interact with another live human for more than 30 seconds at a time! Bring back Classic WoW!!!! (Seriously though, Classic WoW is the only new Blizzard product that holds any interest for me at all, unless they intend to do a D2 remastered - I've never even looked at Overwatch because I know how Blizzard makes amazing games and then proceeds to patch and expand them into the dumpster. Great designers, horrible curators)

It's also based on personal experiences, right? I've played on two servers that just happened to be Horde-dominated in population, world pvp, progression, etc. I don't want HORDE VS ALLIANCE RABBARABBARABBA because my (Alliance) side, in anything related to the actual horde/alliance player base, will lose. Hard. It's not fun to feel like a punching bag, especially when the entire frigging expansion is based on it. Not to mention that I feel like the whole narrative spark from the Alliance's PoV (the Horde let Varian die! WTF! REVENGE!) is super close-minded, especially if you see the Horde's version of the cut scenes. It's all just super disappointing with really nothing to really look forward to.

The quests ALWAYS recap external lore for consistency. Sometimes even ret-con bits of it to fit the world once the devs have actually built it. Reading the books is more about character development and fleshing out the world. It adds emotion to places and events that the player might not feel otherwise. Books can be immersive in ways that games can't be (unless immersion is core to that game's experience) and vice versa, so experiencing both gives you the strongest personal attachment and investment in the lore and characters.

I truly want to believe there is some kind of grand plot twist in regards to Sylvannas because right now it's just so generic and predictable. Horde leader goes mad, sends the whole world into chaos and suddenly after some time both factions band together to purge the evil Horde tyrant from the earth. It's actually just so disappointing considering Sylvy is a huge fan favorite and they could have done so much more with her character.

I heavily doubt they’re gonna make her evil or try to make a repeat of Garrosh. My theory is that this expansion is gonna end with both sides getting screwed over. Remember, we still have a huge sword-mountain in what used to be Silithus, those ominous foreshadowings from Il’gynoth and the fact that the order of the cosmos has been massively upset with the defeat of the Legion.

As someone who as played the beta I can safely say Battle For Azeroth has got _alot_ of promise. Also for everyone upset about the Horde Vs Alliance story, that's just a single part of the story of Battle For Azeroth designed to help incorporate more PvP into the game for those that enjoy it. The lore really starts to go into the *Old Gods* and *Azshara* not after too long into the expansion. Sure Vanilla WoW was HvA but it also had Molten Core, BWL, Scholomance, Naxxaramas, AQ, Zul'Gurub, and the list goes on.

Well it is an MMORPG so repetitiveness is in every MMORPG, just depends on what content you like repeating. Though the leveling experience from 110 to 120 is awesome and worth the buy alone if not just to explore the worlds and expeditions for a month. Personally I go in and out of WoW phases where I play WoW for 3 months, don't play for 6, then play for 3 months. Did that from Vanilla to Cataclysm, because otherwise I'd get bored, and if I did that, I always enjoyed the game.

Gonna go ahead and disagree with the statement that its hard to write characters in an MMO. FF14 has super well defined characters that all have to fight for screentime. Wow on the otherhand, relies on the books to flesh out its characters, making the in-game ones, complete shit. Blizzard simply doesn't know how to integrate characters into their game.

I am disappointed that the Alliance and the Horde were working together to all of a sudden want to kill each other again. David W I tend to agree. I look back now and it seems like it's been all downhill since MoP. The class pruning, the Orc overload, alternative timeline half an expansion that was WoD, the crap they pulled with flying and then Legion with rng overload and a massive grind fest for everything. BfA seems like more of the same, with azerite replacing artifact, keep grinding away for that and rep. Legion wore me out, and I'm finding BfA tedious and dull already.

Classes should be whole, complete and fun from the get-go. Feels like blizzard deliberately held themselves back with class design because they thought azerite would fill in the blanks. You can't launch a game with blank holes. It doesn't sell it very well. Also if alot of the class design of your current spec changes alot tier from tier it can practically be a whole revamp going from tier to tier. What I am trying to say is that you might not like, let's say, affliction warlocks in the upcomming tier because all the best performing azerite pieces provide very boring bonuses. Same thing goes other way around. This up-and-down could really piss people off I imagine.
@BeNice108
@BeNice108 6 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it'll sell just fine but the incomplete classes fit right in with the WoW design anyway, always having to relevel every expansion. You're always restarting anyway. The way classes are setup now simply adds grinding to go along with RNG. Although I already quit so I didn't have to suffer it during Legion and don't plan to for BfA, problem solved!
@TheANimal495
@TheANimal495 6 жыл бұрын
I always think it's tough to be able to keep everyone happy because I think Blizzard doesn't want to overload the player with too many abilities as more and more get added by expansions, but at the same time they also want each class to feel different enough to make buying the expansion worth it. Though unfortunately for every time they do make a right decision (ex. adding the Ice Lance ability for Frost Mages and its usefulness since using Fire Blast as a Frost Mage wouldn't be as viable) they often do take out many moves that players are fans of.

Lmao this is not remotely true. Cataclysm's Cat Druid alone had a more complex priority system than any of the rotations in Wrath including the rune management systems from DK. In terms of contemporary stuff, a Fury Warrior has about 8-10 different non CD things they gotta do to max out dps, meanwhile back in Wrath they had a simple 4 move rotation. Even the most simple specs today like Frost DK or Arcane Mage have very specific timings for when to use the moves rather than a straightforward repetition that entailed rotations back then so even the most simple equivalents are more complicated than what was the simplest back then. Wrath had a lot of talent points to spend, but there wasn't much build diversity because there was a clear best way to spend points for any given spec which is exactly why Blizzard cut down on talents. Your post also conveniently ignores how most of Wrath was faceroll levels easy until Ulduar hard mode and ICC hard mode whose mechanics are exactly what Blizzard has built on top of to make consistently more tough encounters over the years.

At 10:44 "this is likely a problem that doesn't exist for people who have read before the storm" what on Earth are you talking about I got before the storm the minute it released on Audible and listen to it immediately and I still think Sylvanas is off her nut. I play alliance so, horde being evil? Yeah I've heard that one before how's the bear shitting in woods' index? But when I try to put myself in the head space of a tauren for example I cannot for the life of me justify following Sylvanas knowing what I know now. They boiled Sylvanas complicated character down to a mustache twirling kitten strangling Dick Dastardly archetype. It's pathetic and signals to me that this is going to be another Garrosh Style yawn Fest where the new developers take established Warcraft lore and throw it over yet another traffic barrier and give it a really good seeing to.

The bigger issue is that the Horde as a whole has went through the whole evil warchief that doesn't trust anyone and starts shit for their own personal goal plot once before. Why are they going through it again? The problem isn't Sylvanas being evil. The problem is her being WARCHIEF and bringing the rest of the Horde down with her, like Garrosh and everyone is just going along with it as if MoP never happened. And Vol'jin had to die in the most pathetic way possible for this rehashed plot.

Trust me, as a tauren player, we really don't understand why we're going with this either. Hell, we can tell she hates us in the book, and she's basically torturing the EarthMother, our main goddess. Yeah, the writing is crap, and most of the Horde players are pissed about it (most of us didn't sign up to be evil. Some probably did, but not all of us.). Further they're forcing our characters to do some pretty henious things and playing our characters for us, ticking off a good number of ppl. I dunno how they're gonna work this pile of shit out...

I feel the Horde doesn't stand on moral absolutes. They understand that good people do bad things and bad people do good things. They accept them all if they agree to help the cause as a whole. I do not recall any strong motivation or examples of the Forsaken or Sylvanas pledging to the Horde. I recall the exact opposite. I've seen them take advantage of situations for the benefit of their race over the Alliance and the Horde. It's precisely why it baffled the hell out of me when she was named Warchief. I skipped out playing most of Legion because I couldn't back her. I like Sylvanas as a character. My second character was undead. I loved the story quest in BC when you return a necklace to her. I like her acting on her own for the betterment of her people. I like her being a little rogue element. I like how she flirts with crossing the line. It's interesting to have that chaotic nature. You just don't give them leadership role over everything. You don't let the crazy Auntie plan the family reunion. On the outside, it's funny as hell to watch the drama; it's a different matter when it's your house that's in ashes. Walk with the Earth Mother friends.

Hi Bellular, when you do your video on the book, could you talk about the big obvious missing bit of the whole undead-as-people storyline, the death knights of the Ebon Blade? Their existence among both the Horde and Alliance seem to be conspicuous by their absence. Why are questions like "are Forsaken real people with their memories intact" or "can an undead reconnect with their mortal families" posed in the book without the Ebon Blade knights like Taussaurian and his mortal sister just ignored? It seems really really wierd that everyone is going on about Sylvanas' obsession with making new undead (fair enough) but ignoring that the Lich King (Bolvar) *did* make new intelligent death knights in Legion, and did so out of rather controversial people important to both factions in order for the recreation of the 4 Horsemen.

Besides a book is probably one of the easiest ways they can tell a chunk of lore about specific things without coding 50 quests. Id personally rather have books or audible than 50 quests and maybe 5 cinematics, though i do love my cinematics it takes a lot more effort to make them than writing a book does.

It’s because jealous and less talented writers are vying for notoriety on the wow team. They have always done this except for vanilla wow and they are ruining the game. We don’t care about their stupid concocted, fake time traveling whatever’s. We want real humanity in story telling, we want real tales of adventure and woe that pull on our heart strings, we want real beauty and power in a fantasy realm, something that draws us in and maybe even leaves us with simething lasting. If I worked at blizzard, I would make epic characters that played a major part in the world and let the players carry out the story with them as they will. Make the world bigger than these quaint little story lines and let the players live and breathe in that world. Wow is not a B movie, it’s a massive role playing game, or at least it should be....

Sure, I haven't read "Before the Storm" yet, but I can't see how it would change the feeling that the Night elves are loosing Teldrassil because Blizzard wants the Horde to own Kalimdor, frontiers-wise, while the Forsaken loose the Undercity so the Alliance owns the Eastern Kingdoms. The reasons for Sylvanas attacking Teldrassil have been quickly written to give Blizzard a reason for that move, but it clearly sounds more like Gameplay over Lore for me.

WotLK was the pinnacle of WoW storytelling Stats, roles, some titles and tons of abilities Organic story told though quests, starting in green, steppes and rolling hills, ending the story in frozen jagged mountains with almost no walk paths. The build up from Naxx to Trial of the Champions all leading up to the fucking king himself. The dude you saw everywhere, the dude you saw in all the cut scenes, the dude who caused all of this after warcraft 3 and you have wait 9 months and clear a 6 hour raid and you finally get to fight him. That fight started Blizzards fetish of "YOUR RAID DIED! BUT YOU REALLY WON! NOW FINISH HIM!" They knew they had gold on their hands. It cant be topped. Blizzard would have have to make at least 2 more Warcraft Strategy games and 2 more expansions to ever get that kind of anticipation or build up ever again. After WotLK I was like "lol who the fucks deathwing? I already saved this bitch, games over" I still fondly remember my time raiding in WotLK, in ICC, Nax, Uld, and Fuck TOC Rep grind was as easy as doing whatever raid or dungeon you wanted Daily quests were few and easy PvP was solid and Alterac wasnt just "lel rush the final boss" I miss it.

The problem is that Blizzard is trying to reimplement Talent Trees without admitting that they should never have gotten rid of them. The result is that they are making these short-lived, loot-based, item-bound talent trees. The Pick-A-Perk trees could have come in and run alongside talent trees, but instead replaced them. The game is going downhill, or at least away from its original player base.

Not exactly. They're looking for ways for you to progress your character without needing to keep that progression next expansion. If they take away that Legion talent tree (weapon) at the end of Legion, they can start a NEW talent tree (Azerite) for the next expansion - without you gaining a crap ton of new abilities that they now have to fix and balance forever and ever until the end of the game. They can go nuts with new Pick-A-Perks only because they already know we're not going to keep them.

Really think they dropped the ball on the story. [Warning, looooong post] They should have used BFA as a way to introduce FFA PVP. They should have kept the progressing 'peace' with the Horde and Alliance (from WoD). So, when Legion came: The Horde isn't portrayed as 'betraying' the Alliance at Broken Shore, but leaves Greymane...not exactly happy. This feeds into creating two new sub-factions of the Alliance and Horde; Defias Brotherhood and Warsong/Kor'Kron Elite. Defias: Hate Stormwind (screwed over by the nobles) and they hate the Horde (burned their homes to the ground during the Orc Invasion) Warsong/Kor'Kron: Hate Alliance, and hate the 'new' Horde, which they would see as having betrayed Garrosh. Now, you have players decide if they want to join these sub-factions, which, *are actively sabotaging the new peace*. You have Greymane secretly supporting the Defias because he wants revenge...revenge Anduin isn't going to sanction. *However, by doing so, you get a 'costume' that allows you to attack the 'other factions' (so 4 total factions; Alliance, Horde, Defias, Warsong).* Defias can attack anyone but other members of Defias, Warsong...same deal. The 'costume' should act as a server-wide debuff...something you can't dispel unless you go talk to an NPC. This debuff *is required* to carry out the missions from each Dissenter Faction. ...basically combine the Battleground Mercenary buff (changes to faction allegiance for BGs) with Orb of Deception (changes physical appearance), toss is a 'perma-debuff'. Once activated only those players currently also under the debuff *and from that Dissenter Faction* can see it. Everyone else has no idea. Hell, even make it so the names are changed, but locked-in. Meaning you'll get that same name each time you activate the Dissension (de)Buff. -This prevents most of the trolling since you'll get the same name each time; you'll get 'known', but won't be harassed when you're not working for the Dissenters. You could even have it be towards the end of BFA the Defias assassinate one of the Horde 'higher-ups' and make it look like SI:7 did it. Then "weeks later" the Warsong take the brewing animosity to attempt to kill Anduin, making it look like the Horde's version of SI:7 did it. BAM! Next expansion the war is now back on as each side reopens the scars of the past. BFA then takes on a whole new 'story' of each faction dealing with internal strife brought about by the Azerite stuff and uneasy peace (we tried that..what...25 years ago [lore wise]; between WC3 and Vanilla). Now each sub faction of the Alliance and Horde are starting to say "why are we listening to [insert other race(s)]", and the factions begin to splinter from each other. - I'm bored with the whole 'everyone in my faction gets along great' theme.....what is this Star Trek??? ...though, you'd need to change it from Battle for Azeroth to something like, Tidings of War. With it leading into the following expansion, which _should_ be named Battle for Azeroth. As that expansion would see full on FFA combat; only neutral to other factions...no one trusts anyone (lore wise). "But that won't work." - Ya, because having this same ol' boring shit is just so splendid. ....I don't even care about the lore anymore, because Blizzard keeps fucking it up trying to go back to the 'glory days'; "oh oh oh! Maybe if we make them fight each other like we did at the beginning, we'll get to 13 million subs again!" - *Blizzard, your game is boring! Every time you make it interesting you do something to 'reset' the vibe*: TBC - still riding on Vanilla's "reasons", which were valid Wrath - Fordragon killed by Forsaken mutineers Cata - Garrosh going crazy and attacking anything 'not Horde' MoP - More Garrosh madness WoD - nothing really seemed to happen between the factions; mostly just focused on Draenor stuff Legion - ZEROMG! THEY RAN AWAY! ((but we need them to help us fight the Legion...but just you wait!)) *Pick one path or the other. This swerving back and forth is ruining the story, because it's not done properly; it's literally "you guys are fighting again because we wrote: "Horde and Alliance are fighting".".

At least Warlords had a new mechanic, your own "housing". Yes, Blizzard kinda half-a**ed it, but still I enjoyed base building. Warlords didn't have new classes or races, but the base building gave us something to do we couldn't do before. BfA is basically Cataclysm 2. At least Cata had new races to play though. The Allied Races aren't "new" races, a blood elf with blue hair isn't a new race, it's a blood elf with blue hair. So they are just retinting existing races and passing it off as a new feature. Not to mention you have to play BfA to "earn" the right to unlock (some of) these skins. Without any new classes, adding all these races is pointless as many people already have multiple alts. It's not far fetched to think that many players have one of every class already, so unless they get a free race change what's the point of all these not-new races? This is a filler expansion. We have no new classes, no new races (see above) and no clear villain. It's like Blizzard said "ok let's just have the two factions fight each other til we figure out what to do". Anyone who thinks they can't do story in an MMO hasn't played GW2 or SWTOR, so that's a weak excuse.

As it stands now, I don't think it's worth playing. We don't really get anything. In fact, we actually get our artifacts taken away because.. reasons? They had a system to allow for horizontal progression, which they then just threw out the window. I've said it before, but I'll repeat it here. Allied Races aren't new races, an orc with orange skin isn't a new race, it's an orc with orange skin.

The one critical factor I see is that the requirements to unlock flying is getting more and more complicated. One of the things that the developers are not taking into consideration is that unlike when the game launched back int 2004 is that the players who started then are not 14 years older. Many have now grown from child/teen to adult with a host of responsibilities that does not allow for endless hours of play time on a daily basis. I'm now 11 years older than I was when I started and I started as an adult with all the responsibilities that come with being an adult and those have only increased. I actually quit playing for nearly a year when I learned what would be required to fly in the Legion Expansion. It literally took me several months of playing collectively to earn flying. Honestly I do not enjoy the game as much as I do when I can fly. Also I played Beta for BfA and there are mounts that cost five (5) million gold. This is most certainly not fair to most people playing and paying their monthly fee to do so. If Blizzard is going to sell items at that cost then they most certainly need to up the game as far as gold rewards for quest and dropped items. Still having item drops that are only worth silver is not going to cut it. Yes I know that it is a fine example of real life when it come to earning gold. What I really feel is that those who work for Blizzard have an advantage and they know how to work the system for their characters and can earn millions of gold so that they can have items that set them apart from the rest of us peons. Blizzard Developers always remember we are your customers and not your surfs.

I'd prefer if they brought back buying flying even if its a bit expensive. I don't mind grinding for things (though like you said its harder now that I'm older) but grinding to learn flying? Hated the concept since WoD. Have no motivation for the requirements they want so I'm stuck with ground mounts. If they took out the rep grind I'd probably be more motivated to do it.

I don't have 2-3 hours each day and I'd guess most highly functioning adults no longer living with mom and dad are in the same boat. This being mostly targeted to Zdenek305, I don't take your post as QQ Samantha, it's simply fact. Also, you'll notice a lot of folks on here try to talk the game down as dumb or dumbed down. I can't say i agree. Again, I don't have time blocked out between 8pm until 4pm twice a week to guild raid like I used to or live in end game content 2 weeks after launch. The fan base aged but moreso a hell of a lot more diverse than it used to be. Modernizing it for 12-16 year olds won't work. Plus they've tried that. They've made hearthstone, herpes of the storm, starcraft and so many others most of us don't play. Combined, they're a fraction of WoWs subscriber base, history, and profitability. Sorry for the long rant, I just hate seeing one of the few things I've enjoyed the past 12 years transition into an unrecognizable dumpster fire with a Portuguese soccer commentator calling the play by play.

I'll keep my fingers crossed since I haven't actually played BFA myself, but the gameplay changes look awful from what I've seen, heard, and read. Almost every class looks slowed down and frustrating, with the GCD changes just being the most obvious. Maybe the devs needed to rein in power creep, but the ways Artifact Weapons and Legendaries added utility to specs and abilities made the game more fun and taking that away without giving anything in return just feels bad.

There is nothing new to the numbers crunch failure. Every couple expansions or less, they erase your progression of numbers to deliver what they claim is something more "defined and understandable". By now, players should see a giant "B" after the damage numbers, representing the billion mark, still easy to understand and would have delivered something in the way of a sense of accomplishment, for what else would you wish to grind new gear for if not to increase numbers. Instead what you get is disrespect from the developer in the form of erasure of any sense of epic achievement you have busted your ass to earn. I have played this game since the Beta, where level 13 was cap, and players where hyped to get higher numbers with finding a new green rifle or axe etc., and the general chat was filled with anticipation of what to expect. Sadly that is no longer a mystery. We came, we played, we seen, we got reset many times. If this sounds caustic, it is because I remember, and have wishes and hopes, but I honestly do not see a trend in allowing anything to break the mold. Like an arch-type class system where mages become Archmage's in something more than a title (aka. rare spells or new talent trees, plus existing one), dual classing or even class mixing. The range of ideas they "could" implement makes the head spin, but I see a mold, and its not new, despite years to evolve. As highlighted in other threads, there is more of a simplifying toward e-sport than there is toward something other than killing wildlife in a new region using less buttons or strategy. I do like the image of some changes to the landscape of the faction conflict, but its time for change to the cookie cutter approach. My buck fifties worth but leaving so much unsaid.

The problem with this expansions is its neither "i am an adventurer or a I'm a hero" type game this expansions is a AvH which the vanilla lore has introduced and set in stone. Blizzard WE KNOW the 2 factions fight based on disagreeing. But can we get an expansion that doesn't shit the previous expansion please. Also can you complete your Lores? X amount of years later and each lore ending each death each moment where you felt something in this game felt mildly immersive. Blizzard needs to focus Lore for real.

Their newest genius change is the removal of switching gearsets inside a m+ dungeon. So if you play any priest spec, shaman or other classes without decent defensives have fun not doing higher keys because you either run tank trinkets/traits to avoid oneshots(hf doing a lot less damage than mages, hunters ect which can run whatever gear gives them most dps) or take offensiv ones and get oneshot by fun skillchecks like hyrjas rng bolts or xavius nightmare bolts lel.

The thing with expansions lately, is that they are very big picture focused. Every zone and every meaningful quest line is focused on the next dungeon/raid/major plot. I kind of miss the subtle world environments of Duskshire, Stranglethorn, Westfall and such before Cataclysm. They felt like actual places with their own problems amidst the greater story. Current expansion zones since MoP feel like they only exist for the sake of the big bigger picture and don't come across as an actual environment with actual inhabitants.

I am personally not ready for the loss of another character hero due to madness, treachery, or villainy. :) I can't wait to see what comes in BfA. I've been playing the BfA server since Alpha, and now that it's become possible to copy your own characters from live to beta, I can see why I had so much trouble with the all-green fresh 110 premade characters. I've decided to use my alt who has about 920 gear on live, so I wouldn't be burned out of the game immediately when starting my main on launch (who is slightly better geared, but not a lot. I quit raiding a while ago so it's LFR or worse gear). I am so much more powerful than the all-green fresh premade character, naturally, but a lot of the mechanics actually make sense when you have a higher starting point than the bare basic pieces of loot. Even during the alpha and further beta, once you got passed level 114 ish you'd start getting a few blues or purples from rare mobs or dungeons and the whole GCD had been with you long enough for it not to feel 'off' anymore. It's just another change in playstyle, not a hard nerf to your abilities. I'm looking forward to the launch. Can't wait to quest in the zones I've cruised down about 6 times now. It's still interesting, still looks amazing and still feels adventurous.

The "Horde" has basically been the *_Sloppy Seconds Alliance_* . The Undead and the Bloodelves have been directly and indirectly responsible for a disproportionate amount of the nonsense that the Horde has gone through. So much so that those two groups should really make their own faction and just leave the Horde. The Undead and Blood Elves both actively look down on the rest of Horde, at times using the other Horde groups as cannon fodder in their never ending revenge quest against the Alliance. This was culminated in Slyvanas being even thought of as a leader for the Horde. Someone who time and again gave the finger to specific Horde directives like not using the plague. It seems also true that the Horde is the sloppy seconds alliance in the player breakdown in how Undead and Blood Elves vastly outnumber other player race choices by a large margin. Kicking the Blood Elves and the Undead out would put the Horde back in the role of being a despised and hunted faction that just wants to have nothing to do with Alliance's nonsense in any form. It would bring a much needed dynamic to the conflict if there was now a third faction that could be viewed as completely ruthless in their motivations and would start to air the Alliance's dirty laundry in a more prominent fashion.

Makes sense from the perspective of a warrior or peasant, makes no sense from the perspective of a chief or king. TL;DR - its suicide to kick them out. Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff and The steamwheedle (?) all know how strong the blood elves and undead are. They are also the ONLY factions with any real port cities on the entire continent who are friendly with the horde not including Stranglethorn. The undead and blood elves also have navys capable of invasion. Say If I were the warcheif of the orcs, *I would want* 2 massive kingdoms with literal boat loads of men ready to fight who have ports they will let me access to my main enemies continent. Without them, it would be a bloody D-Day invasion to re-establish a foothold. I also havent elaborated at all on how its an pretty crippling deterrent to have 2 major kingdoms just north of your biggest rivals. Granted its a double edged sword with their ability to antagonist; The Tribes and Kingdoms of Kalimdor are completely fine in any immediate conflict. The Foresaken and Blood Elves will have to fight majority of the war, since they have direct fronts with humans and dwarves. This is good for Orcs, Tuaren and Goblins since they wont have to fight a front on their continent besides the night elves (who would have to stand alone against a coalition of goblins, trolls, orcs and tuaren) The Horde exists to survive, it always has. Not to fulfill some destiny lore of just the shamanistic races. It's evolved since then.

Overall I strongly agree blackcat7k. In the original WoW the undead forsaken were certainly the most awkward fit, the forsaken quests in the vanilla era really illustrated that well. The Horde was desperate, that is why they allowed the forsaken to join. I consider the blood elves the worst addition to the horde they never should have been a part of the horde faction. Not only do the blood elves clash with the overall "misunderstood monster" theme of the horde but they also really don't mesh in lore wise either. And you make a good point that it is long past due that the horde would have kicked out the forsaken for obvious reasons. It would be a ton of work to create a 3rd faction but when you look at things lore wise it should have been done many years ago probably at around the Wrath/Cata era. Forsaken/Bloodelves as a separate faction would indeed make sense since they both seem outright villainous.

I think the perception that Blizzard is making established characters do bone headed things to advance the plot is spot on the nose. Sylvanas for instance has considerable combat and tactical experience. And yet, the Horde are seen abandoning the high ground of their fortified Lordaeron capital to engage the enemy out on the open field. Maybe that makes for a more thrilling cinematic, but tactically speaking, it is stupid. It's the same situation as the SWTOR "Hope" trailer where one side gives up the high ground to foolishly engage the enemy on a level playing field.

But neither is a bright idea to have your warchief and top horde leaders like Saurfang trapped in your capital city, unable to comunicate with the rest of your forces. You can defend the high ground all you want, it will not make any difference if the enemy realice it doesn't need it, since we're having the "battle of Stromgarde" or they can take Gilneas an important port to get reinforcements quickier and go straight for Silvermoon since the forsaken are unable to provide any help.

But they did not choose to attack those targets. They chose to attack the undercity. If they packed up and left to attack elsewhere that might be a reason to come out, though I highly doubt that is a consideration when your enemy is actively fixed into a siege onto your position.
@gankald
@gankald 6 жыл бұрын
lock down your enemy in the high ground and keep it under siege, all non undead races will die from starvation in the mean time while you have cut off the communication with the leaders go beat the other important points to resupply your side of the siege quicker and theoreticly you get a easy win :P

i never understood why people say ffxiv is slow combat. at early levels yea it is, but eventually like half your rotation is off the gcd. some classes you can't even play correctly if your internet is slow because you have to hit so many skills in between gcds.

No what I'm saying is that legion itself was fun, I enjoyed going back to Dalaran and class halls, a (mostly) united horde and alliance, and seeing more activity with Velen. But, what blizz did to warlock was downright depressing. I eventually quit the game because of it. It effectively broke all my faith in class design for WoW.

Lost Woods at least they didn’t make one of your specs melee and another a non pet user. They screwed hunters over way more. I picked a hunter because I didn’t want to be melee . I also picked a hunter because it had a pet and was mobile . Then they make sv not use a pet and have to stand still for max dps . Might as well be a mage if that is the case then
@Iad83

Tbh I would have liked demo more if they did make it a tank melee spec but kept its playstyle similar to dark apotheosis in MoP. It was far more engaging than nudemo. But I can sympathize with hunters, I understand exactly how it feels to have your favorite spec functionally deleted. However, I don't think hunters are in a 'worse spot'. Other than SV, the other 2 specs still play much more similarly to how they use to, while all the warlock specs were switched to a sluggish combopoint system. Like an oak veneer on top of plywood, it looks like warlock on the surface but plays nothing like it ever has underneath. Additionally, in most every fantasy game universe, hunters have some kind of melee variant. It's not just all ranged. Blizz looked at hunter trees and decided they didn't need 3 specs to do 1 thing. Rather than have all specs do rdps, they made 1 spec do mdps. While classic SV is gone, it did expand the options and fantasy of the hunter class on the whole. Warlock otoh received changes that weren't intended to expand its class identity, but were curtailed to make DH stand out more and be unique. The changes to the class resulted in an overall reduction and a complete reformatting of demo. While it sucks for SV fans to have lost their tree, the motivation for the hunter class changes at least began with an inspiration for the hunter class itself, meanwhile the motivation for the warlock class changes began with an inspiration for the demon hunter class. Essentially, hunter changes were done to advance hunter fantasy, warlock changes were done to advance demon hunter fantasy. Hunters would only be in the same boat if a different class entirely dictated the creative direction for it.

Lost Woods I might have liked sv if they made it a tank spec which the game always needs more tanks . But another melee dps no thanks. Demo could of been a fun tank spec instead of the mess of a dps spec that it is. Unfortunately my two favorite classes are hunter and warlock and both got screwed

Blizzard is very stubborn lately, they keep putting in all these negative changes that nobody likes and they put their foot down, its starting to feel like the game is getting worse and the devs just don't care.

I think part of the whole problem of the HvA thing is the limitations of a 2 faction system. Imagine if there was no limitation on who you could interact with and if each territory was its own faction which in turn could be part of a larger faction (i.e alliance, horde or other), players wouldn't be forever bound to one faction, certain races would be able to move about more freely in other territories, like Tauren in Orgrimmar, but so long as you're wearing the right tabard and either not notorious enough to have wanted posters, or doing something suspicious, then even a human would be able to get in, since not all humans are alliance anyway. Also this way in times like in MoP, there would have been actual anxiety in the community over whether Silvermoon would decide to join the alliance. Factions could even go neutral, the Tauren again probably would, or join a different faction all together, like if the Earthen Ring, Argent Crusade and Cenarion Circle, and Kirin'Tor formed a meta-faction. We could also still have localised conflicts with smaller factions like in BGs, reliquary vs explorers league, aldor vs scryer etc etc

I haven't logged in, in perhaps 6 or 9 months but have played a lot over the last 10 years or so. Yet somehow I was able to follow everything you said - at a hundred miles an hour. So much jargon, so many references, at such a speed would totally boggle my mind and shut me off if I was just starting to play. Not to say that you should slow down, just that it made it so clear to me your point about the amount of time invested by older players and the amount of emotional investment. It is just such a huge game! Thanks for your videos as always :-)

Spice Merchant Emhyr var Emreis Well i agree fully. They were going in to wrong direction from Cata for YEARS. Im happy they are actually going to back up alot of these terrible changes. I thibk new players are crying alot these days and old school players actually realise we might be going to the right way again. Which we havent been on for a LONG time.

If they would try something new they would take out the dumb follower system, make classes have more abilities, give frost dks 2h weapon back and make the game feel like you accomplished something like warframe does it every day.
@olly3231

To be fair, I think there is more than enough abilities. It must be a nightmare for new players. Also I don't really mind the follower system, it's harmless and just easy pocket money. I have never undestood the hate for it, the feature is just so easy to ignore. Frost Dk's weapons... giving something back is hardly a point for "fresh stuff" argument, this is from another discussion, that has nothing to do with my post. And rewarding gameplay - eh, that's really subjective, for example I've never found Warframe rewarding myself - but hey. it's been a long time, since I played it, maybe it has changed.

About time i stopped. They legit killed the talent tree, paladin was god in cata at everything. The game took a shit dive since cata. The fact they still charge people to play this game is funny and pretty sure the playerbase is beyond small compared to wotlk and even cata.
